Absolutely gorgeous altar cloth. The picture doesn't do it justice. This was a special order and Amanda is wonderful to work with. I'm already planning my next order!

“Love the Earth and One Another - Reuse what we Find - Fashion what we Need - Make a House a Home!”

I started The House of Frogbird to help fulfill my personal creative side after raising two beautiful girls and working for over 20 years in the corporate world of Pre-Press and Advertising.

You can find the story of Frogbird and how he got his name name on my Blog. See: Wrens in Frogbirds House! Aug. 14, 2012.

I am old enough to have seen a lot of changes and have become a bit of a geek. I like to take the best of the new and blend it with old fashion craftsmanship to create items for my home and The House of Frogbird. I have always been drawn to creative work in many mediums including, embroidery, sewing, crafting miniatures, photography, photo retouching and historical photo restoration. Although I may not have enough time, I now have more time to do the things I love.

I will soon be listing a variety of items but I started my shop with embroidered candle wraps because I had LED candles and wanted wraps for myself. I use designs from several well known embroidery design companies but mostly from Urban Threads and Embroidery Library. I frame the designs and often must rework them a little so they can be used for my purpose. I am learning to digitize and hope to soon offer my own designs.

I love to share my embroidery work with others and since I work at home I can usually keep my stitching prices below the industry standards of $1-$2 per 1000 stitches. I have three embroidery machines having just purchased my latest one last year. With my new machine I hope to offer a greater variety of embroidered items. My oldest machine is semiretired but comes out of retirement for special projects although I don't usually have more than two machines running at a time.

With my Embroidered LED Candle Wraps and new Framed Luminaria's we see old meeting new using today's technology. The first candles are said to have been made in the far east over 200 years before Christ. Today we still use them to light our way and warm are hearts. Embroidery has been around even longer. So long in fact no one is really sure how old the craft is. Technology has added new ways of enjoying both of these old crafts.

I love wax candles and they will always have a special place in my heart, and now you can use them with my Framed Luminaria's and of course I still offer my embroidery wraps for LED candles.

I also offer a limited number of LED Candles in Supplies for people who can't find the right candle to use with their Frogbird Candle Wrap. LED candles can be used any place you would use a wax candle and many places where you can't. You could give them as a gift for someone in a hospital to warm their room and later their home. It is a great gift for the elderly both at home or in a nursing home. You might not want to use a wax candle at work as it is not the place for fire. Finally you can always feel better about having a candle lit at home around small children or pets when it is a flameless candle.

For those who want to be more flexible in there choice of light I have created Framed Embroidered Luminaria"s. These Acrylic Framed Embroideries allow you to create a beautiful luminaria effect for inside your home. You can use your luminaria frame to decorate a table, a mantel, a shelf, or even put it in a window. You can light this framed luminaria with any light source of your choosing, a Jar, Pillar, Votive or Tea light Candle, Led Candles of any size, Table Lamps, windows or even place it in front of your wax Scent Burner for a whole new look,. The choices of light sources are as endless as your imagination. Your Embroidered Framed Luminaria will be beautiful whether the light is coming from the front, the back or both.

I invented a very hands on process for making the Organza base fabric that I stitch on. I mix two shades of organza to create my own colors. I invented a special process for cutting, binding together, drying and hooping the two pieces of organza for embroidery.
Once a Wrap or Luminaria is stitched it is back to a hands process of rinsing off the dry binding solution, then cuting and finishing the edges and adding any embellishments.

Now that we have move to Frogbirds Farm full time I have my workshop in the country where I will not only continue my machine embroidery but hope to add other handmade items to bring joy to my customers homes.

It is going to be fun to see how I can make my shop grow, but for now I must get busy because as we all know there are never enough hours in the day.
