Welcome to Frog's Leap Art Glass, where fun or serious, but always fabulous, kiln-formed and sand-blasted glass is created. With my background in the biological sciences continuing to influence me and by living in a corner of the world surrounded by much physical beauty, it makes sense that many of my designs whimsically or realistically portray elements of nature. Another source of artistic inspiration is Asian art. Designs based on images from Asian tapestries, porcelain and folk art appear frequently in my glass. Please remember that every piece of glass is hand-made and unique; no two items are identical!

FUSING PROCESS: Fused glass pieces start with a variety of materials such as sheet glass, glass shards, ground glass, glass powders and/or glass enamel paints. The components are arranged into the desired design, then fused together in a kiln at 1450 degrees. Some designs require multiple firings, with layers of glass added each time. A final firing to 1250 degrees onto a ceramic mold creates the 3-dimensional shape. Fusing pieces of glass traps tiny air bubbles or creases as a natural part of the process and will be present in all fused glass. Fused glass from Frog's Leap Art Glass has been carefully annealed and is safe for food service; although it is dishwasher safe, hand-washing is recommended. Please note that fused glass is not oven-proof nor is it approved for use in the microwave.

SANDBLASTING PROCESS: Sand-blasted images can be very detailed and create dimensionality on an otherwise flat surface of clear (plate) or colored (stained) glass or mirror. Sand-blasting uses a mix of pressurized air and silicon carbide grit either to frost glass on its surface or to actually carve into the glass. Most sand-blasted glass currently available on the market is mass-produced using computer-generated designs and stencils. However, at Frog’s Leap Art Glass, designs are unique, and each design element is hand-cut into an adhesive covering. The covering over each design element is then removed for carving or frosting in a very specific sequence, in a process frequently referred to as staged or sequential blasting. Sand-blasted glass may be cleaned with any spray glass cleaner and soft cloth.

My goal is for you to be as delighted with your glass as I have been while creating it, so please take a few moments to read my shop policies...

Refunds and Exchanges
Since you should be happy with your glass purchase, I offer as easy a return policy as possible:

Broken or damaged item: Keep the damaged item AND all packaging material, and contact me within 7 days of delivery so that I can arrange a refund, equivalent exchange or no-cost replacement, your choice. Please note that I may need to ask you for a photo of the item and its packaging for insurance purposes.
