Announcement   Welcome to Full Circle Art, where you will find gourds, unique jewelry, and more. I like to depict Western and Native American motifs and themes that transcend cultural differences, sometimes using the symbols and design forms of other cultures. I’m also very attracted to color, pattern and design as it occurs in nature. Please take a look at a sampling of my work below…..

About

In 1996 a friend gave me some gourds she'd grown in her garden to paint. That was the beginning of my love affair with gourds!

I had been creating with gourds for about 14 years, been a member of several co-ops and galleries, when in 2010 another etsy seller asked me if I'd be interested in creating an on-line shop? She was kind enough to sit down with me and guide me through the process of setting it up...and I was hooked. As an artist who creates one-of-a-kind pieces, it has never been an assembly-line type 'business', but rather another way to share my work with those who might be interested. Now that we have moved back to a small town in central Oregon, it is my main venue as there are no galleries or artist's co-ops here....the nearest being in Bend or Sisters.

To back up a bit, I have always expressed myself through art. My first love was watercolor, and the ones I am most pleased with adorn the house. Then came weaving, black and white photography, ceramics and jewelry. I was thrilled to discover that I could use many of the artistic skills I had developed with gourds... and people actually bought them! Over time I have added pyrography and carving to my artistic repertoire.

When I started in 1996, gourds were a relatively new medium, especially in rural eastern Oregon. The most frequently asked questions were: "What are those?" and "Do you grow them?" It was a great way to engage prospective customers, and I enjoyed the education part of doing shows. Now, gourds are much better known, and some are recognized as 'fine art' rather than just craft. I have enjoyed taking this medium in many different directions, and just when I think I've tried everything, some new idea hits me. While still enjoying painting, spinning/weaving, ceramics and abalone jewelery....I always come back to gourds!

Thank you for taking a look at my work. For me, art is about expression, exploration, growth, and experimenting...about constantly evolving and trying something new. Gourds have become a medium where I can combine the many skills I have acquired over the years...and learn a few more besides, such as pyrography and carving. In all that I create, I am constantly learning. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
