FAQ's
-----------------------------------
Q: I asked a question, but you haven't responded yet. What gives?
A: I have a really weird sleeping/working schedule, and some times I'm out in the national parks where there is no cell service. Your questions are important to me, so I will answer them as soon as I have the opportunity to do so. Scroll to the bottom of this section if you want to know why.

Q: How long will it take to craft your items?
A: Orders go to the post office within ten business days of ordering.

Q: How long does it take to travel from me to you?
A: I'm in California, and shipping takes another three to five business days.

Q: Your bangle sizes are weird. My wrist measures .... what's that size for your bangles?
A: Bangles have to fit over your hand, so wrist size is basically useless in determining bangle sizes. Thin, tall people might have a 6" wrist and wear a medium or large or even small bangle. It's all about the size of your HAND. Measure from the center of your forefinger knuckle to the center of your pinky knuckle. No measuring tape? No problem. Use this guide: If "off the rack" bangles at the store are too large and fall off, go with a small. If they fit, go with a medium. If they can't get past your thumb knuckle, go with a large, if they can't get past your finger knuckles, send me a convo and we'll figure out what size you need :)

Q: I don't know what size of chain to order. Any suggestions?
A: 18" is probably a safe bet. Don't go with 14" unless you're buying for someone who's smaller than a size 6 and likes chokers.

Q: What metals do you use?
A: Sterling silver, Copper, Brass, Gold-filled, Rose Gold-filled, 10K gold, and for the one spinner ring, solid 14K gold. Nothing is plated unless you ask for it to be plated, and that's just for the copper bangles to hide the silver solder I use.

Q: Does your stuff have nickel in it?
A: At this time, none of my listings contain components made of nickel.

Q: I'm not sure of my size. Should I guess?
A: Nope. If you're not 100% absolutely sure about your ring size, I have a handy-dandy ring sizer available for purchase- they're only $2 and that includes postage.

Q: Why do your copper things have a silver spot?
A: It's because they're not plated, and I pound on them to shape them so I can't fuse them. Plus fusing makes them a bit bubbly, which isn't the look I'm going for. The silver solder shows up because that's what I use to hold the ends of the wire together. You have to solder the ends of metal wire together with a metal that melts at a lower temperature than the wire does. I can't find any brown/orange solders that aren't brittle, so they don't work for the bangles or the spinner rings which require a lot of hammering/bending. *If* you want your bangles to be plated with copper to hide the silver solder join, I can do that, but you need to let me know at checkout. I won't plate the copper rings because the spinning action abrades the metal underneath, and would compromise the plating and cause it to chip/peel off.

Q: I ordered something in copper, but it's making me turn green. Are you using fake copper?
A: No fake copper here. The green is a sign it's real copper in it, or contains copper. Copper makes your skin turn green when it interacts with moisture in an acidic environment. Brass, which is at least 85% copper, will also turn your skin green. On some people, (including me) sterling silver will do that too on occasion, especially if they're around acids (lemon juice, vinegar, margaritas, lotions... ) because it contains 7.5% copper to make the silver less bendy. The "fake" association with the green mark happened (I think) because people didn't understand what gold electroplate/plating is, and didn't realize that the plating would wear off in under a year, especially on a ring. The brass that formed the structure of the ring was exposed, and brass makes a green mark because it contains copper.
A: Some jewelers will dip copper items in a sealant so it won't turn their customers green. I won't do this, especially on the spinner rings. Spinning = abrasion, and abrasion will cause the coating to chip and peel off. Also, a lot of my customers want copper because they have arthritis, and coating the copper keeps it from touching the skin, which is the whole point of wearing copper for arthritis.

Q: I ordered "Patina finish" and the silver looks tarnished/blackened. Why isn't it shiny?
A: Although patina sounds like patent, as in patent leather, it's not shiny. Patina = tarnish the piece, then gently polish off the patina on the high points. The patina/tarnish remains in the crevices, enhancing the appearance of the pattern.

Q: I ordered satin/matte finish, and it's not shiny like satin fabric.
A: Satin finish on metal is either a brushed satin that looks like lines, or a matte finish. My satin finish is matte. I don't recommend it for anything other than bangles or pendants. Rings take too much abuse, and the finish quickly deteriorates to a semi-shiny, semi-matte finish that shows scratches.

Gold spinner ring build time takes about 2 weeks- I order the gold to build your spinner ring when you order your item.

Notice on stamped personalized items: I will stamp what you write. If I see a typo or something else that seems out of sorts, I will message you for clarification. Want a design that you've seen stamped before but I don't offer it? Message me. I'm willing to order new stamps. If you want it, others might want it too :)

In addition to sterling silver, I offer several copper and/or brass rings. Copper WILL leave a green mark on your skin, especially in the presence of moisture or chemicals like sunscreen. Brass is a metal alloy (mix of metals) containing 85-90% copper, so the same thing applies to brass. The green mark isn't harmful, and it washes off. I don't coat the rings in case someone chooses copper for its health benefits.

Why do I have a weird schedule? I'm an RN as well as a metal smith. I worked nights for almost 20 years (12 hour shifts), first in pediatrics, then as a house supervisor, and then the hospital closed, and now it's reopened, and I'm averaging >40 hours a week. Etsy kept me afloat for the year it was closed. Yay Etsy! Yay awesome folks who bought my jewelry! Now the hospital has reopened, and I have resumed my former position as night shift house supervisor. Sooo... I still want to make awesome jewelry, amazing birthday presents, and tie flies, but I'm going to have to adjust some things. Rush orders will not be available, and build time is going to go up to ten business days. I'll respond to questions and messages, but I'll probably respond outside of what most people consider to be "normal business hours". I do appreciate your business, and want to meet your gift giving needs. If I can, awesome :)

    About FullMoonCrafting

If you have a dream, believe.

Hi! I'm Marjorie Boggess. I have a passion for making beautiful things. My interests vary with the wind, but I always come back to jewelry. This love started as a child. My grandfather made beautiful turquoise and silver jewelry. When we visited my grandparents, he let me stand next to him as he built necklaces, rings, bracelets and pendants. He explained what he was doing, and how to be careful. He worked with both stone and silver, and taught me a little about working with those materials. He had a gentle, patient way about him, and I still miss him. My proudest moment as a jewelry maker came when I finally made a ring similar to the ones he made.

When I make things, I do my best to make sure that they're well-crafted and will bring years of pleasure to the people who wear or use them. I mostly use Sterling Silver and semi-precious gemstones. The copper items are made with pure copper; it's not an alloy. I avoid nickel. I'm allergic to it, and I know a lot of other people are allergic to it as well. Occasionally, I use glass, crystal or man made stones if the design calls for it.

As my interests vary, you might see things other than jewelry on here ;P

    Sizing details

Please check your size before ordering. You can visit a local jewelry store, or order a reusable ring sizer (and get a coupon that will take 10% off your next order) Spinner rings run small - they measure out to the proper size, but because the band is wide, you will need to order a larger size than you would with a narrow band. A common problem is using a ring that you've worn a while to determine size, especially if that ring leaves a dent or impression on your finger when the ring is removed. The spinner ring ends up being a whole size (or more) too small.

If you have questions regarding sizing, please convo me.

    Wholesale availability

I am not currently seeking wholesale opportunities.

    Gift wrapping and packaging

Your item will arrive in a small gift box with a band that has the Full Moon Crafting logo printed on it. Rings come in a ring box. Bangles are packaged in a 3.5" x 3.5" box, earring or pendant box varies with the size of the item.

    What is Gold-Filled?

Gold-filled aka Gold Fill aka rolled gold, sometimes marked on jewelry as 14K GF, is a layer of gold bonded to a core of non-gold metal, usually brass or copper. Gold-filled is not gold plating as gold-filled has substantially more gold on the surface than gold plated does. My metal supplier sends me wire that is 5% gold by weight. Gold filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant than gold plated. It does not flake off like gold plated can. Gold filled jewelry is a practical alternative to solid gold and can last many years if cared for properly. Care includes NOT using any sort of abrasive on the item, as it can wear the surface down to the base metal.

Can you make this item in 14k gold instead of silver or gold-filled?

More than likely, yes :) Some of the patterned silver wire doesn't come in gold, but other than that, yeah. I can make these items in 14k yellow gold. One thing though- no patina. I can do a matte finish, I can do a shiny or hammered finish, but no patina. That's one of the wonderful things about gold- it doesn't tarnish.

The item isn't what I expected / I ordered it too late to make it in time for the birthday. Can I return it for refund?

Yes, you can return unworn items for refund. Please return it in its original packaging to:
