Announcement   Hello hello! Thank you for stopping by! Feel free to read the whole announcement for more fleshed out explanations, but here are the fast facts:

> Everything is FREE SHIPPING in the U.S. So the price you see is the price you pay. (Sometimes sales tax is automatically applied depending on your state's laws.)

> Order ship in 1-2 business days.

> I don't take custom orders for decal work, but feel free to message me if you're looking for more of a certain item (say, a set of 8 cobalt wine cups and the listing only has 6 available). I'll let you know when the next glaze firing is being unloaded and you can compare that to your "need by" timeline. :)

Full announcement below. Yay!

Hello! Thank you for stopping by my shop. :) I'm Jennifer (feel free to call me Jen) and I am the owner and sole employee of Function Pottery. I make everything you see here, from forming, to glazing, to firing - the whole shebang.

Everything that is listed is completed and ready to go. I don't take special orders for sold out items, but rest assured they will be back on the shelves soon. :) A regular rotation of making assures you can always find something to delight you in my shop.

Once an order is placed, it takes me between 1-2 business days to get it packed up and dropped off to the post office. From there, the post office typically takes 1-3 business days to deliver your order, depending on how far away you live from NE Indiana. Please keep in mind that Saturday and Sunday are not business days. ;) If your order is a gift or you need it by a certain day, feel free to send me a message or leave a Note To Seller on the order letting me know your timeframe, and I'll do my best to work with you on that.

If you would like a gift note included with your order, please check "Gift" and leave the wording on your order during checkout. I will write it by hand on an artist card. If you would like a gift upgrade, you can choose "Gift Wrap" and your order will be tied with a pretty twine bow, and your note will be written on colorful card stock.

Again, thank you for stopping by! Enjoy your day. :)

NEW ITEMS

+ THE WOMB MUG has been born and boy, is it going gangbusters! The restock before last sold out in under 5 hours! I made a boatload this last time, and there are still plenty of Cobalt options available.

+ The COMFORT MUG is here! It's a mug that yearns to be held, and is my personal interpretation of Hygge. I use them at home, and enjoy them immensely. I hope you love them. :)

Thank you for stopping by! In my shop, you'll find handthrown ceramic wares meant to be used in your everyday life. I take care in developing the form and finish so that each piece is comfortable to use and completely functional, while being simultaneously beautiful and interesting to the eye.

I do not include receipts or invoices with orders in an effort to use less paper in business. Also, it works out well if your order is for a gift; no need to worry about the recipient receiving information you would rather they not have. :)

About

Form and Function, realized Beautifully.

Functionality + Beauty. This is what I strive to achieve here at Function Pottery. I have considered form and appeal while creating my line of ceramic wares. I want to offer something that feels good in your hand and is pleasing to the eye. Something that you want to make part of your daily rituals; that invigorating cup of coffee in the morning, the comforting bowl of soup at the end of a long day. These are activities that we will take part in regardless of whether or not we are using a handcrafted item. But, when we incorporate handmade items into our routines, we open the door to elevating what can be a mundane act to something to enjoy. Something to savor. Something... special.

I started in ceramics during my senior year of college. I had to take an art class to fulfill a general education requirement, and truthfully, I thought ceramics would be easier than painting. But this somewhat silly reasoning led me to what I have made into a career. I fell in love with clay. I tried a few other types of work after graduation, but I couldn't find peace in anything other than clay. And I have spent the last six years building a line, a look, a feel.

I believe my line is modern with mass appeal. I have made each item strong enough to stand alone, but I have also developed shapes and colors that work well as sets. So whether you're looking for the perfect mug to start your day, the bowl for your favorite ice cream dessert, or a hanging planter to bring a bit of nature's serenity indoors, I hope you find something in my shop that makes you smile, and elevates your everyday.

Frequently asked questions
Wholesale availability

At this time, I am not taking on new wholesale accounts.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Gifting has two options - for no extra charge, you can leave a Note To Seller with a gift message and I will write it on one of my artist cards. By choosing and paying for the Gift Wrap option, the order will be tied with a pretty twine bow and your gift message will be written on a piece of colorful card stock. The artist card will still be included with the Gift Wrap option, because it's cool. :)

Lost or Damaged Packages

No one wants to think about this, but it's a fact - packages being stolen from porches and doorsteps is a real problem. Please take proper precautions to ensure anything you order can be delivered safely to your listed shipping address during business hours. USPS insurance only covers transit and delivery; once a package is marked delivered, they are no longer liable, and neither are sellers. Now, that being said, of course we want you to have what you ordered, and will try to make it right. But please do your part to mitigate losses that could possibly have been avoided. And if something is lost or stolen, please send me a message and we'll see what we can do. We're in this online shopping world together. Thank you. :)

Listing Details and Dimensions, explained

Handthrown ceramics enjoy an inherent quality of individualism, meaning that each piece will vary slightly from the one before and after. For many, this quality is one that makes handthrown ceramics so desirable. You are literally receiving a piece that is unique; no one else has an exact replica. As a production potter, my skillset allows the pieces to be very very similar to one another, but each one is indeed unique. This means that the dimensions for each listing are averages. Wiggle room for the individual nature of the work must be afforded. If you need an item to be an exact dimension, please message me with your needs to see what I have in stock. I do not take custom orders with exact dimension needs.

Returns

Returns come with caveats. If you are unhappy with your purchase, you may ship it back to me for a refund of the original purchase price (minus the shipping charge), and the return shipping is not covered. The item must arrive safely and in one piece. If it is broken during transit, no refund will be made.

Please remember that listing photos show a representative piece, not the exact item you will receive. Also, listing dimensions are approximate. Small differences are to be expected and celebrated - it's handmade! :)

Exchanges

Due to the cost of shipping and the potential for an endless loop of exchanges of handmade works, exchanges are not accepted. Slight variations are part of the handmade journey; enjoy the ride! :)
