Hi there!

This shop started in February 2011 as Funky Knits By Georgia and has now evolved as I moved across the country - welcome to The Mint Homestead, in Oneonta NY!

Why the name change? We are a family of 3 people and 2 dogs who have dreamed of debt-free hobby farming in upstate NY for quite awhile. Well, we have taken care of the debt free, and have moved to upstate NY. After much family deliberation and goal restructuring, the hobby farming has now become foster parenting - we currently have one babe living with us, helping her family to get the support they need with reunification as the goal. It is wonderful, challenging, and extremely CUTE in our home right now... and we are loving every minute of it. We are still a homestead at heart, still planning gardens, being self-sufficient, but helping to raise children instead of livestock.

The name 'The Mint' comes from The Mint Bar & Grill which is a bar where I met my David in 1996 in Ellensburg, Washington. Yes, I met him in a bar... :) but we've also been married FOREVER so it worked out OK! We both graduated from Central Washington University (go Wildcats!) - and though the Mint is now a Pita Pit, we will always have fond memories of those early years as we got to know each other and fall in love (ew - so sappy!)

ANYWHO I will have some original Funky Knits By Georgia designs and patterns, and handmade knits all ready to ship, but also more items to offer as time goes by and I settle in to my new community.
