Grab some "Stick's and String" and I'll tell you about my journey to knitting.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I appreciate your time! I love knitting and trying new projects (don’t tell the sticks and string but pottery is my first love and I hope to have a wheel one day).

Here’s my story:
My name is Glen, I'm 19 years old and I'm a knitter. I live in a small town in north Pennsylvania with my family and four great pets (3 dogs, 1 cat). I always wish I had more time for creativity but when I can, I'll curl up on the sofa to relish in some knitting and my guilty pleasure of television. Hey at least I achieve something while relaxing. What is it they say, "killing two birds with one stone"? I'm always multitasking.

I got started knitting when I was about 11 years old. My grandmother taught my mom how to knit when she was young, so she was no stranger to the hobby but it had been quite some time since she'd been in practice so she was a little rusty.. When I was younger, I would occasionally ask my mom to teach me how to knit but, neither of us ever really caught on.

We came across a post from another homeschooling mother of four, stating that she'd be glad to share her knitting expertise to anyone willing to learn, we decided to give it a whirl. My mother, sister and myself attended weekly gatherings at our teacher's home and slowly made progress.

My first pieces were pretty bad off but, after a lot of practice I got the hang of it. After about 3 months I was finally ready to start my first real project! I made a beanie cap for myself that I still wear.

With every new project I challenged myself a little more and after some time, it was amazing the things I am able to create. I owe it all to our instructor who always readily gives herself for the goodwill of her community. I'm so thankful for her willingness and patience with us all. My predecessor has become a dear friend to our family and we hold her and her family very close to our hearts. We now live some 1,300 miles apart, but I always look forward to getting together for some knitting when we make trips to visit back home.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in this, our beloved teacher and former knitting buddies (whom I equally adore), my mom who has helped me every step of the way and inspires me to keep doing what I love, friends and family who show me support and encourage me and of course all of you. Every single customer means the world to me and I'm just so grateful that people cherish these creations as much as I do.

Where did the name come from? GAR's Sticks and String:

After trying to come up with a name for a few months, my mom was reading an email from one of our knitting friends that suggested we get together and bring our "sticks and strings". I thought it was so witty that I added my initials to the front of it and I was on track to starting my own knitting business!

Returns and exchanges
If you are unhappy with your purchase let me know and I will correspond with you to see what kind of exchange or refund we can do. I appreciate all your patience and understanding.

If you aren't happy with your item, first contact me. I will try my best to work something out. If you received an item and are unhappy with it I will considering agreeing to give you a partial refund but, first you have to send the item back to me at your expense and it has to be in the same condition it was in when I sent it. I will not refund any shipping charges and I will only refund part of the sale. I will then repost it as a resale.

I am all about customer satisfaction so please leave honest feedback and I will do the same for you!

If you change your mind about wanting and item please convo me and let me know and I will get back to you letting you know what we can do about it.

I am not responsible for any shipping errors. This includes getting lost or damaged. Once I tape up the box and print the shipping label it is in the hands of USPS. Please do let me know if the item is damaged once you receive it but I take good care of my product, package it well, and use lots of tape.

(This policy is good for 60 days after purchase. 60 days after purchase all refunds, exchanges and returns are void unless you contact me and we both happily agree on a settlement).

When dealing with custom orders, we will agree on a price once we've discussed details about what you expect of your item. I usually ask for half of the payment upfront so that I can buy materials. After the item is completed I will send you pictures of the item for your approval. If you are satisfied, I will create a listing for the total of the second half of the amount due.

You may cancel your order up until the item is packaged and addressed to you.
The United State Postal Service will be used as a primary shipping method. Most items ship priority and tracking your package will be available. If you prefer another shipping method (faster or cheaper) let me know and we can work together.

Shipping prices vary depending on the location of delivery. Shipping sometimes cost more or less then expected. Please keep in mind the cost of supplies for packaging and that any amount more than postage is contributed towards it. If the postage cost dramatically less than you paid in shipping, I will refund the difference to you.

Shipping ranges in expedition but I will see to it that your purchase is on its way to you as soon as possible.
Additional policies and FAQs
I encourage private, custom and Alchemy request. I also accept and encourage wholesale request. I will give a discount to those who request a wholesale purchase. I ask that you pay 50% of the wholesale cost before I get working on the items though to insure security of purchase and to pay for supplies. Just get in contact with me and we can converse away!

Some items have more than one in stock and/or may have been sold already so please be patient and understanding about every item not looking the same as the one in the picture!

Also if you see something you want in a different size, color or shape do not hesitate to ask! It’s hard for me to make most of my felted items different sizes and shapes but ask and I will do my best! Color however is hardly ever a problem. I may have to charge a bit extra for some colors. Looking for yarn yourself online or in store and forwarding it to me is always helpful for the both of us. We will really know you love the color and I won’t have to worry about getting in your head and figuring out the perfect color for you.

I do offer gift wrapping or shipping to a giftee’s address. Once again just ask!

I offer discounts occasionally. You can mostly find them in my Announcement. Almost all of my discounts are “before shipping” which means I will not include the shipping charges in the discount. Discounts are all refunded via PayPal after payment is received or discounted in the shopping cart if a coupon code is used. In fact I will reward you with a 5% off discount of your purchase just for reading my shop policies! Just us the coupon code Policy101 upon checkout.

“I knit you together in your mother's womb”. Psalm 139:13-God has given me an awesome gift so He gets the glory for it!

Thank you.
Much love,
Glen Rodman
