Hi my name is Shirley Gelber Golan and I'm an Architect & Designer based in Israel. I graduated Bezalel Academy Of Art and Design in 2002 and I'm a practicing architect since then.
My collection is influenced by architecture and abstract forms and the artifacts i produce are liminal, on the border between the artistic and the functional.
My work attempts to be honest and with a natural feel to it. The emphasis on the tactility of clay as a material is achieved by leaving outer surfaces un-glazed thus preserving some of the natural coarseness of the clay. This discipline characterizes all my work both in pottery and in architecture.
The shapes are basic, and achieved through a reductive process.
They are intentionally NOT PERFECT, handmade and show the marks of this process
They are meant to absorb meaning in time and use.
