It's as good as advertised! The craftsmanship is outstanding. There are small rough touches I like that says this is NOT store bought. The only thing I didn't expect was the chandelier light bulb (not the regular one). That's not a critique though because it's perfect for mood lighting. I enjoyed Robert's updates on the building process. He even apologized for the "recycled" packaging. A humble artist, how about that? I highly recommend this product!!

I commissioned Roger to create a lamp with a paper lantern to include kanji characters. I was impressed by his high level of integrity and quality craftsmanship. During the process, he listened to my request, and always went the extra mile. He was very descriptive, and kept me well informed of each detail. He is a creative genius. I loved working with Roger as he created my vision into an Outstanding Unique lamp! I highly recommend commissioning him to create a piece for you! In great gratitude, Pam

In addition to being flexible and easy to work with, Roger created a beautiful custom lamp for us that will fit perfectly in our home. Can't recommend him enough!
Dramatic light sculptures from paper, wood & stone.
Light sculptures are not only pleasing forms in themselves, but can fill a living environment with beautiful, comforting filtered light. We use desk lamps to read and overhead lights to avoid bumping into things in the dark, but light sculptures texture light and enhance everything within their radiance. The story of Golden Heart Illuminations is the journey of creating the perfect luminary for each unique customer.
I like to think of paper as an extension of wood, and each lantern or lamp is an exploration combining form and function. Origami alone is exquisite in geometric precision. While transforming a flat square of paper into a three-dimensional structure is satisfying for the maker, it's not very functional. Modular origami - weaving multiple origami "units" together - creates a sturdy architectural skeleton for the lamp shades & lanterns. Layers of translucent tissues and decorative papers are bonded to the skeleton with tinted adhesives to become a solid durable form. When illuminated, there's great energy in the dynamic balance between the rhythmic geometric polygons and the flowing random patterns of color density & texture.
Each new lamp is an improvement on the prior, and more elaborate and decorative bases have generated growing interest and sales. In the future I hope to incorporate more natural wood veneers and turning solid pieces of natural wood for more refined bases. I've been experimenting with epoxy resins to further strengthen and waterproof the luminaries for use in outdoor lighting and decorative stone garden lanterns. By using different sized papers for modular units and combining formed subunits together I've been able to adapt the paper luminaries to virtually any existing light fixture available on the market, and hope to solicit more custom orders for exact dimensions and colors to match customer decorative needs.
