First hibiscus flower of the 2016 season opened on Sept 13 here in South Louisiana. Harvesting will be starting soon.

Our hibiscus, planted outdoors in March. This is the first signs of the developing flowers. Plants grow all summer, here in South Louisiana, and begin to flower as the days begin to get shorter. There is a slight hint of Autumn in the early morning air!

Our fresh picked hibiscus sabdariffa, with seed pod removed; ready to be gently dried.

Harvesting hibiscus from our gardens. They are growing beautifully! The seed pod is removed and the red calyx is used fresh for a delicious red herbal tea or gently dried for later use.
