A bit smaller than I expected but absolutely lovely otherwise. Feels very sturdy and it looks lovely on the hat I planned to accessorise with it. Very pleased with the item all in all and delivery was very quick.

-x—About Eco Fabrics—x-
Gaia Noir cotton is always either Fairtrade foundation certified and produced to Soil Association Organic standards, OR certified 100% Organic and from a fairly-traded ethical co-operative (my two fabric suppliers have slightly different systems - please ask if you need exact info). The fabrics are often individually dyed and hand-woven, which gives a lovely old-fashioned feel and slight variations between batches. Gaia Noir uses organic and fairtrade fabrics for human-rights and ecological reasons: the chemical pesticides used in conventional cotton often sicken or fatally poison the cotton field workers, ruin the soil quality so it's difficult to grow crops in future, and kill off nearby wildlife. And ontop of all this, the guys who deal with all these problems to grow, weave and dye this cotton often aren't even paid enough to support themselves. You can see why it's preferable to not support these unethical systems wherever possible.

I aim to run the business along green and ethical principles, to keep up with new eco research and ideas, and give my lovely customers good information where I can (and be honest about helping them find another expert where I can't!), including:
- Utilizing recycled materials and vegetable inks for as much business stationery, clothing tags, postal packaging, business cards etc as possible.
- Purchasing business equipment (e.g. display mannequins) second-hand from within the UK
- Using primarily plant-based materials. The treatment of the animal individuals who produce leather/feathers/fur etc is often appalling (check out Dan's handy information on animal fabrics at TheEthicalMan outfitters, he explains it better than I could! : http://www.theethicalman.com/leather.html )
- Developing product designs that use up every scrap of quality fabric, so almost nothing is wasted
