Despite some perfectly executed customized requests, the order agreed with its description, arrived on time, and quality exceeded my expectations. It is attractive and appears to be real clothing. It is constructed well enough to be worn publicly in conditions that cause wear and tear. As a costume it will last a long time even with hard use.

COVID-19 and Fabric sales.
Since the pandemic I have been selling a lot of fabric, for masks as well as all other uses. I purchase fabric directly from importers who are 'essential' and did not have to stop during lock down. At the request of clients I have increased color selection.
I can not offer free shipping because my price per yard is too low and fabrics like the twill are just too heavy. Also I have to participate in Etsy ads due to the volume I sell, which I don't mind because it brings in a lot of new business. However, the fees are high and my profit on fabric is low so I make about 25 cents on 1 yard through the ads. I would lose a lot if I had to pay shipping. Etsy's algorithm to allow me to offer free shipping would increase fabric by a few dollars a yard. I would prefer to pass low fabric costs to clients and have them pay shipping.

The story on how Garb the World began.
A long time ago a reenactor (me) started selling drawstring pants on ebay. People soon began asking for other items, and when her friends started having and needed ways to work while caring for their little ones, she set up an internet company that would help Garb the World. In the last 15 years over 100 stitchers have worked for the company.
My inventory has expanded to include accessories from local artisans (pottery, brooches, wood and leatherwork). Garb the World even offers dozens of styles of historical shoes made in collaboration with an artisan from Pakistan. Garb the World also sells rope sandals that are made in the USA--as are most of the supplies used for costuming; fabric, trims, clasps, etc.
Garb the World sells to many organizations (religious and secular) all over the world. I have sent monk robes to priests in Ireland and Italy. I've sent Viking clothes to Norway and kilts to Scotland. I have provided costumes for movies, plays, and operas. If you ever happen to pass by the torture museum in Amsterdam, be sure to take note of the Grim Reaper’s robe: it was made by Garb the World.
Costumes are machine washable and we expect people to play rough in them (like we do).
Garb the World can be found on Second Life. Also in Real Life - LARP event Battle for the Ring, SCA events, WonderCon, NerdBot, and CalFur.

Custom and personalized orders

Most clothing items can be customized, See my website for all the customization of items we can do.

Sizing details

The items listed on etsy are standard sizes. I can custom-make to any size if you can wait 2-3 weeks.

Care instructions

Our clothing is made sturdy and is is machine washable. It's best to wash the velvet/satins on cold and handwash selection on machine. The cottons will shrink a bit if washed and/or dried hot.
To prevent wrinkles pull the clothing out of the dryer as soon as it stops and hang up.

Wholesale availability

Everything is available wholesale. I have done several orders of 50-150 monks robes and can usually do delivery in 5-8 weeks. I always deliver as promised and agreed upon.

Sizing details

Most of the items here are standard sizes and should be described in the listings. In general our clothes are baggy and will fit much larger sizes. Everything can be custom-made, see our main web page (www.GarbTheWorld.com) for more details.
All items can be returned if they don't fit. (or even if you just don't like it).
Shoe sizes are in US Mens and Womens and EU sizes. Turn shoes tend to be narrow, hob knob shoes are wider. Some styles like the Tudor shoes work for people with wide feet. If you have wide feed you can send me a foot print, or return shoes if they don't fit. I can't make them any wider.
