Like many other beginnings in 2020, my shop was born out of a need to create during lockdown isolation. I have always enjoyed being creative & as a child played with Fimo. I ordered a starter set from amazon to keep me sane while sitting out the pandemic in a small city apartment in Toronto & that is where the love story began again.
I have always been a fan of jewellery & in particular the statement earring so it felt fitting to start with this.
As the collection began to outgrow my jewellery box my husband encouraged me to put my work out there & sell it. I wanted to create a brand & a product that represented something special to me. I am hugely proud of being Irish & living abroad only heightens this. I wanted to create something that paid homage to this heritage but also brought it forward in a modern, creative way.
And so Gealach Designs was born! Gealach is the Irish word for moon & as a dreamer, felt like the perfect fit. The pieces created at Gealach Designs are inspired by Irish landscape, plantlife & mythology.
Working full-time in hospitality I tend to create in my free time so only produce small batch, unique pieces. I hope to launch a new collection each month! As of March 2021 I have relocated to the beautiful Yukon & hope to use the stunning natural surroundings to inspire new pieces as always with an Irish flair ;)
