About

I'm the Geek Girl of Geek Girl Fused Glass

Welcome to Geek Girl Glass! During the day you will find me working in the high tech world as an engineering manager. Although the work is satisfying, my soul needs a creative outlet. Each weekend (and some weeknights when the muse calls) you will find me making fused glass art in my garage studio located in Boulder, Colorado.

Why fused glass? Never one to be conventional, I’ve always gravitated towards non-representational, three-dimensional art. I would eagerly sign up for those oddball art classes offered in continuing education and community college brochures. Three years ago I stumbled onto fusing glass and was immediately hooked. Confronted with a selection of colored sheets of glass, I utilize my mathematical side to arrange unique geometric relationships. Then, throwing caution to the wind, I allow all the individual components to fuse under extreme heat. Although science dictates the transition between liquid (melted) and solid glass, there is an uncontrollable element in the fusing process which can lead to exciting and sometimes unexpected shapes. The creative possibilities are seemingly endless.

In 2013, I remodeled my garage and purchased a kiln. This has allowed me to pursue my passion and create fused glass art to share with more than friends and family. I invite you to enjoy the beauty that fused glass art can bring to your home.

If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact me to arrange a return.
Payment
My shop accepts PayPal, credit cards, and Etsy gift cards. Sorry, no checks or money orders can be processed.
Shipping
I use USPS to ship my glass artwork. The shipping prices quoted are Priority Mail flat rates. Most of my work fits in Medium Priority Mail boxes.

If I find that I can use an alternative box that ships for less than what I quoted, I will refund the difference to you.

If you order multiple pieces and they can fit in the same box, I will only charge one shipping surcharge. However, with the bubble wrap needed to protect the glass, I may be forced to use a larger, non-standard box to hold multiple pieces.

If you would like me to ship via FedEx, please contact me.
If you need a piece shipped outside of the US, please ask me for the shipping quote. Be aware that international shipping may be slower.
Additional policies and FAQs
Care of Fused Glass - I recommend that pieces be hand washed. Please do not wash them in a dishwasher or use them in a microwave.

Remember that each piece is a unique, hand crafted item. Small bubbles and/or defects may be present within the glass piece.

Custom orders - Unfortunately the US glass industry is struggling under new EPA emissions standards. This has lead to the closure of a major glass manufacturer, Spectrum. It has also limited production of certain colors at other suppliers. Due to the limited supply, I am unable to accommodate custom orders at this time.
