GemfireWire's Shop Policies
Hi, my name is Emma and I live in Canberra, Australia. I started making wire wrapped jewellery as a hobby after my wedding in early 2010. I have always loved jewellery, and decided that I wanted to learn to make my own. I love the look and style of wire jewellery. I aim to make pieces that are elegant, unique, and suitable for every occasion.
I only use high quality materials. My pieces are made from Argentium (anti-tarnish) sterling silver and 14 karat gold-fill wire, genuine Swarovski crystals and pearls, natural stones, beads and faceted gemstones.
I spend a lot of time making sure my pieces are the best they can possibly be. I finish all pieces carefully so they will be comfortable to wear with no sharp edges. I aim to make my pieces so they will last for years and I tumble the majority of my jewellery for shine and strength. However some pieces are still delicate and should be treated with appropriate care.
Some of my pieces are one of a kind, mainly those that use a unique stone such as malachite or botswana agate. Other designs will appear regularly in my store, however due to their handmade nature, no two pieces will ever be identical.
I am happy to accept custom orders, just convo me. Most of my pieces are available in your choice of Argentium sterling silver and/or 14k gold-fill, and can be made to your size. Item listings will usually mention available options. I will be happy to find a particular stone or colour for you if you have a favourite.
I am happy to include a note or card and/or simple gift-wrapping if the piece is a gift being shipped directly to the recipient, just give me the details in the note to seller at checkout.
All my jewellery is handmade by me in my smoke-free and pet-free home.
Payment must be made via Paypal at time of purchase, unless other arrangements have been made with me directly via convo or email prior to purchase. Items will be shipped after payment has been confirmed.
GENERAL: Items will be shipped as soon as possible after payment has been confirmed, and I will notify you when I have shipped your order. Most items can be shipped within 2 days, however made-to-order items will require an additional 3-7 days, and custom orders will require up to an additional 3 weeks if I need to source materials.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: As I am located in Australia please allow at least 3-4 weeks when placing orders if you want an item for a specific date. I can provide express shipping on request but this is VERY expensive from Australia (sorry, but the prices are set by Australia Post). Delays can happen in shipping, and I cannot guarantee that items will arrive in time with less than 4 weeks notice, especially if I need to make the piece first.
Tracking is not available as this is prohibitively expensive from Australia, however
Registered Post (with signature on delivery) is available on request.
International orders generally arrive within 2-3 weeks but may take longer, especially during busy periods. The buyer is responsible for paying any customs or duty charges which may be applied by their home country to any shipment.
AUSTRALIAN BUYERS: Items will ship via Australia Post. Orders within Australia should arrive within approximately 2-5 working days. Tracking is now available for all parcels within Australia.
Registered Post and Express Shipping are available on request for an additional cost, just convo me before purchase to arrange this and I will reserve the listing for you.
Refunds and Exchanges
I love my work and want it to arrive safe and sound, so great care will be taken when packaging items for shipping. Most item listings will specify the packaging, usually a gift box, which will in turn be packaged appropriately. Items lost or damaged in transit will be replaced or refunded on a case-by-case basis, please contact me as soon as you can to arrange this. Returns will be accepted for a full refund within 4 weeks of receipt, only in original and unworn condition. Return shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer.
Additional Policies and FAQs
Custom orders, sizing and other information
Custom orders are welcome, I am able to make most designs in your choice of silver, gold-fill or two tone, with your choice of stone/beads where relevant. Convo me with your request for a quote. Once you have accepted the quote, a non-refundable deposit of 50% will be required. Once the deposit is received I will order any necessary supplies and make your item. Photos will be sent to you prior to requesting the final payment. Your item will be shipped after the balance has been received.
Custom orders will require a minimum of 1 week to create, depending on the item requested. If I have to order extra supplies such as a specific stone, then it may take up to an additional 2 weeks. Therefore please allow at least 3-4 weeks for custom items to be made, plus shipping time. I will always endeavor to get your item to you as soon as possible, and will give you an expected completion date with your quote based on the materials needed. I will inform you of any delays as soon as possible.
For pre-made rings I will give sizes as accurately as possible to a quarter size, according to international sizing standards. For custom or made to order rings, it is critical that the buyer provide an accurate size. Rings that have been made to the provided size will not be refunded or replaced if they don’t fit. The best way to get an accurate ring size is to be measured by a jeweller. However if this is not possible, you can measure the size of a ring that fits you using this ring size chart: http://www.jewelrylist.com/sizer.pdf. You can also provide the inside diameter of a ring that fits comfortably (please measure as accurately as possible).
I often add full or partial shank wraps to my rings, that is the band will be wrapped with half-round wire. This may cover the entire shank or just the middle section underneath the finger. Wrapping a shank makes the ring more durable by keeping the individual strands of wire together. It also makes a ring made of square wire more comfortable to slide on and off. However some designs are very solid and will not typically have wraps added, but may be requested for a small additional cost. Wrapping the shank makes a ring up to half a size smaller.
These can be made to any wrist size, for a loose or close fit, depending on your preference. If you prefer a closer fit, measure your wrist and add ½ an inch to find your size. If you prefer a looser fit add 1 inch. I typically make my bangles oval, but they can also be made round, make sure you specify this when ordering.
