Who is responsible
Gentle Tribute is run by Schiras Ahmed, a sole trader in Nuremberg, Germany. The full address is listed under Seller details on this page. For any question about your data, write to gentletribute.contact [!at] gmail.com or send me an Etsy message.
What I collect
- Your order details from Etsy: your name, Etsy username, the item you ordered and, if you share it, your email address.
- The answers you send me for your tribute: memories, stories, the tone you would like and details of the service.
- Our messages about your order and any revision.
Why I use it
Only to write, deliver and revise your tribute, and to keep the order records that German tax law requires. The legal bases are Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (our contract) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligations). I never sell your data, use it for advertising or publish your tribute.
How your tribute is written
Before any writing tool sees your answers, I replace names, places and dates with placeholders. The first draft is written with AI assistance from this anonymised text only. I then read, check and refine it myself and add the real names at the end.
Who else processes your data
- Etsy runs the marketplace and handles payment. Etsy is responsible for its own processing, see Etsy's Privacy Policy.
- Google (Gmail): if you contact me by email, our messages are stored in Gmail.
- Pazi, a shop management tool, can see order details. It works for me under a data processing agreement.
Some of these providers process data in the USA. They use safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long I keep it
I delete your answers, drafts and files from my email and computer no later than 6 months after delivery, or sooner if you ask. Order records are kept for as long as German tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or a copy of your data, and you can object to processing. Just send me a message. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. Mine is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Ansbach).
There is no automated decision-making or profiling.

1. How does it work?
After your order you can download a PDF with a few gentle questions about the person, your memories and the tone you'd like. Send me your answers through Etsy Messages or by email. Once I have them, I write your eulogy and send it to you as a PDF and an editable Word file.
2. How long does it take?
The delivery target is 48 hours after your complete answers reach me. If your service is very soon, tell me the date in your order and I'll do my best to help.
3. Why does Etsy say "instant download"?
Etsy shows this label for all digital items. Your eulogy is written personally for you, so the finished files arrive after I've received your answers, not at checkout.
4. How long will the speech be?
Eulogies are about 3 to 5 minutes of speaking time (450 to 700 words). Pet tributes, wedding memorial words and Christmas remembrance words are shorter, between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. The exact length is in each listing.
5. Can I ask for changes?
Yes. One revision round is included, so details, tone or wording can be adjusted within your original story.
6. Can you write it in German?
Yes. English is my main language for this service, but a German version is available on request. Just mention it in the personalization field.
7. Is my information kept private?
Yes. Your memories are used only to write your tribute. I never sell, publish or reuse them. Before any writing tool is used, names, places and dates are replaced with placeholders, and I add the real names myself. Your answers are deleted no later than 6 months after delivery.
