About

Geography, Geometry, Geology, Creativity... GeoBoutique

When I was young, my art teacher always said "Never be an artist unless that is the only thing you can do." I followed her advice and got a primary job, but I can't keep myself from creating. My work in science and geography spills out into my work, but this is my creative outlet. I began as an oil painter, but with two kids, I find it easier to create in short stretches, and etching and enamel work can be fit into the stretches of time I have. I love the process of creating my work. I've geeked out and learned as much as I can about how and why the salt water etching process works, and I've enjoyed researching melting points of metals and why overfiring enamel creates different colors. The science side of my brain combines here with the creative side to produce wearable art. I hope you derive as much joy from wearing my pieces as I did in creating them!

Thank you for visiting my corner of the Etsy world. Here, you'll find my creative outlet and geeky experiments. I'm a scientist at heart, and most of what you find here was a successful solution to some problem I dreamed up. The majority of my work follows a thought of "I wonder if I could..."

Returns and exchanges
I want you to be happy. If I make your jewelry and something goes wrong that is my fault, let me know and let's fix it. If I can't fix it, a refund will be on its way.

Unfortunately, some things are beyond my control. I work in copper, which changes color as it ages, and that is a natural process over which I have no control. However, I hope you will find that the patina process adds a uniqueness and timeless quality to your piece that will enhance your enjoyment.
Enamel is glass. If you heat enamel then dunk it in ice water, it will shatter. If you accidentally stomp on it, it will break.

I do everything I can to make sure that the pieces I sell are as durable as the materials will allow. This includes dropping everything I make a few times, not as a scientific testing method, but because I am clumsy. If it survives my shop, I do hope it survives your life as well.

Cancellation
I hope you don't get buyers remorse, but if you change your mind on a premade item before I ship it, convo or email me to see if the order can be cancelled.
I'm sorry that I can't accept cancellations on custom orders once I start creating them.

I will ship your item USPS First Class Mail in a padded mailer unless you request otherwise. If you would like to add insurance, delivery confirmation, or a faster delivery method, please convo or email me prior to purchase so we can get you everything you need.
