All Killer, No Filler

Gibson Girl Vintage works hard to create an authentic vintage shopping experience. All pieces are locally sourced, not online, but by hand from the VA/NC border and surrounding area, which creates a truly eclectic and unpredictable shopping experience, because that's what shopping vintage is all about! GGV's mission is to provide original vintage in stellar condition - all killer and no filler!

I started collecting vintage in 2001!! Still a teen, I got caught driving without so much as a learner's permit, and, much to my chagrin, I had to do community service at the local DAV thrift store! However, it truly was a blessing in disguise because this is where all the digging began and how I became enamored with all things vintage, and after that I shopped at thrift stores exclusively (also the only way I could afford to feed my sartorial habit!). I thought about naming my shop Juvenile Vintage (ha!) but it was taken. So I chose Gibson Girl after Charles Dana Gibson's famed illustrations because his wife, and muse, was a Danville, VA native, like myself. Also, the Gibson Girl was really the face and epitome of the independent woman at the turn of the century- she was curious, adventurous and timeless. It was a perfect way to represent my goals and what I was trying to do for myself, by myself.

So many other life experiences led me to do this that sometimes I think it was just inevitable. For example, I went to auctions and yard sales with my mom at an EARLY age, before I even had an interest in vintage - it was such a rush to raise that card for the first time! Years later, I studied Anthropology at University, which only fueled the fire of finding pieces from the past. Simply put, I'm passionate about and in love with what I do, for many reasons, and when love and passion combine, the rest is history, or should I say the preservation thereof ;-)

Thank you for reading my story!
