I was asked to express my favorite from the six boxes that were purchase. That is a hard task - each has it's own personality and made very well. As a believer that the presentation of a gift is just as important as the gift itself these boxes meet my expectation and more. So very happy. Maureen was a joy to work with and went above and beyond to accommodate my order. Everything was packed with care and arrived perfectly. Follow-up of these adorable gift boxes - a few of my co-workers that were lucky enough to receive their gift in the origami box were ever so delighted. It has been the talk all week long. This year no one open their presents early because the packages were just too beautiful and in every sense of the words - elegant art. Gift boxes that can be reused and a true conversation piece.

this is extraordinary! thank you so much. I wanted something very special to house a gift for important friends...I cannot think of anything better than this beautiful hand-made box. the care and craftsmanship are awe-inspiring. and the color/pattern combination is stunning; perfect. it will display beautifully, long after the gift is gone. thank you so much for packing it so carefully and delivering something so very perishable and crush-able in perfect shape. simply exquisite.

I’ve been doing origami off and on since I was a kid, but I didn’t pick up modular origami and box-making until we started our family.

Our daughter was born in Asia, and I wanted to maintain some cultural connections with her country in an ongoing way. I love collecting papers and exploring all the wonderful things one can do with it: Paper as fabric, as sculpture, as furniture—I love it all!

An unopened gift carries all the possibilities of the universe in it: It's magical. I believe the outside of a gift should be as magical and as beautiful as what is inside.

I use two general styles of construction:

These are typically constructed from uncut, square pieces of paper without glue. Interlocking folds keep the box together. However, embellishments are affixed to these boxes in whatever manner makes the most sense: Thread, brads, grommets, glue, pins. This means that I sometimes pierce the paper to add embellishments. I *sometimes* also use strategic paper cuts to improve the aesthetic results. I’ll tell you when I do that. My origami-inspired boxes are usually of my own design, or they are modifications that I made from others' designs. I'll tell you which in the descriptions.

Please be aware that many people are likely to have independently come up with similar folds to mine. For example, I once created a 4-section box divider that I am actually quite proud of. It had the right elements for “good” origami design: a mystifying middle process where the folded paper looked nothing like its eventual outcome and a satisfying “reveal”—one final fold that popped everything into place. However, I have since seen pictures of similar dividers in books and on websites. My guess is those designers used very similar folds—if not the exact same folds.

These boxes are usually cut from templates I have designed. The underlying paper is usually not square, and they almost always use adhesive in their construction. All constructed boxes come from templates I have personally designed. As I move these to SVG files I will start offering them as downloadable templates. Look for DIY kits in the future as well.

I use both dry-folding and wet-folding techniques.

Please consider joining my Facebook community. It's a wonderful place for conversation, feedback, interesting insights--and even the occasional freebie!

I am also on Etsy as Naiad Necklaces, and I have one blogspot page devoted to both stores. It can be a little confusing, because the website carries only the Naiad Necklace name (I opened that store first). You can learn more about me at:

Returns and exchanges
Pretty much anything is returnable as long as it isn't a seasonal item. If an item isn't returnable, it will specifically say so in the listing. Items may be returned within 7 days of receipt as long as they are unused, remain in pristine condition, and are returned in their original packaging. The buyer is responsible for return postage. Original postage and handling costs will not be refunded.

My creations are my babies, and I package them accordingly. In the very unlikely event that an item arrives damaged, *please do not return it to me*! Instead, send me an e-mail. Pictures are great too. You will need to keep the packaging so that a Post Office Inspector can assess the damage. Returning the packaging and/or item(s) to me risks voiding the damage claim.
I accept PayPal. Don't have Paypal? No problem! Use your own major credit card. Click PayPal at checkout, then press the link to pay with your own credit or debit card. I also offer PayPal’s $0 down, 6 months-no-interest financing. Just click on the "Bill Me Later" option when checking out through PayPal!

Minnesota residents will be charged applicable Minnesota sales tax.
To keep costs reasonable, I use First Class Parcel Post in the United States. I ship to most non-US countries using Priority Mail if it isn't outrageously expensive. Otherwise, I select the next best, less expensive option available. If you need your order sooner, please convo me for a shipping quote. I do combine shipping when I can, but it just isn't possible to estimate shipping costs for different combinations of items in advance. Please convo me for a specific quote. Otherwise I will simply refund any overpayments. Items are mailed within 1-3 business days from the date of payment. I will send you a tracking number as soon as your items are mailed, so you can follow your items’ progress from me to you!

I sometimes recycle packing materials. The outside may not be beautiful, but your item(s) will be!

For insurance reasons, I can ship *only* to your registered PayPal address.
Additional policies and FAQs

If treated with care, Gift.i.Gami boxes will last many years, even when made from papers containing acid and lignin. Please keep your Gift.i.Gami boxes out of the sun and avoid humid and/or dusty environments.

I use a combination of wet-folding and dry-folding techniques as well as pre-scoring to minimize cracking at fold lines. Unfortunately, sometimes some paper cracking is unavoidable. Cracks at fold lines are not "damage" per se. You should expect to find at least a few cracks in your boxes.

I use typical, interlocking origami folds to put box bottoms together, meaning no glue there. Overloading the box will therefore cause the bottom to “blow out.” Please use your own careful judgment as to how much weight you put into a Gift.i.Gami box! Ditto for the gift bags. Gift.i.Gami is not responsible for the repercussions caused by overloading a Gift.i.Gami box or bag.

If you put candy in a Gift.i.Gami box or bag, please make sure it is individually wrapped first. Avoid putting greasy items into a Gift.i.Gami box or bag. Please do not put food items into a box or bag made of glitter paper: the glitter gets into the food. Yuck!

Gift.i.Gami boxes are created in a smoke- and pet-free environment.
