Announcement   I've been adding to my Etsy Shop all the new shawls that traveled with me during the Spring Craft Fair season. But I thought it was time for a change in background. I love my backyard and for the last several years I've shot all my photographs there. But I've noticed a blue tinge to many of the photos. I suspect it's because of the blue block walls surrounding the backyard.
So I created a little studio of sorts in my garage and I've been shooting there. I kind of like it. I miss the backyard, but I think the colors of my shawls are truer, and that's what I was aiming for.

About

So I Gave it a Try

It was during one of our dinner parties that a neighbor suggested I sell my shawls. We were all gathered around the fire pit and it had gotten dark and cool, so I dragged out a number of shawls for guests to wrap up in. She thought they were beautiful. I sent her home with one, and didn't give her remark another thought.

Some time later I was working part time in a fabric store. I know how to sew but I had never tried to make a handbag. I was amazed at how many women made their own bags. And their bags were amazing, not only did they meet exact needs, but some of them were absolute works of art. So I started to play around with fabric remnants and placemats, and I fell in love with making novelty bags.

But it wasn't until my husband noticed that anytime we were out and about, my creations never failed to get a comment or two from other women. He suggested I try selling my shawls and bags. So for 2011, my New Year's resolution was to give it try, a really good try.

I'm in my fifth year now. I sell at the Spring and Autumn Craft Fairs in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. And I sell on Etsy. I consider myself a success because I'm able to sell my creations. I consider myself a success because a few years ago I didn't even own a computer, and now I have an online store.
