Great product, and even better, detailed customer service & assistance deciding which product & set up was likely to be best.

Can't recommend this product and seller enough. Communication was timely and all questions were answered prior to purchase.
The girth was beautiful and in excellent condition. The GirthShield is an amazing product, and is the first of it's kind that directs pressure onto the sternum and away from the horse's sensitive axillary space (arm pits) & rib cage.
I've spent the better part of a year trying different types of girths (short, long, padded, covered, wrapped) and everything I tried eventually rubbed my horse's elbows and axilla.
Ordered this girth with a GirthShield in place and finally found a solution. Right from the start, his tail and back were up, he stretched into the bit, and was moving beautifully. My saddle, which had a tendency to slide slightly back, stayed beautifully in place. Best part: NO RUBS!!!

This girth is amazing, my horse always hates it when you even bring the girth anywhere near the saddle. I have tried everything acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathic, massage therapy- nothing worked. I purchased this saddle and he was immediately happier.

    These girths are AWESOME!!!
I raved about a test girth I had to my husband....Really, REALLY stable saddle (good on round, hairy little icey's). My horse was a LOT more comfortable and willing to move out. Overall improvement in his gaits. My right lateral work got better immediately (can you tell something was uncomfortable - and I was using either mohair or all elastic?).
So my 'real' girth came today and I suggested that he try it out to see if his horse liked it.
I no longer have a girth...he and his horse liked it so much that he stole it, and now I have to get another one of my own!

I'm NEVER riding without a GirthShield again- it's like I have a different horse! She's very stoic/wasn’t showing outward signs of typical "girthiness" but the difference between using the GirthShield in comparison with our old girth is significant nonetheless. We always struggled with energy ("like a live horse" was our motto) and now she’s SO much more forward (I've stopped wearing spurs). My mare is very round so I was concerned about saddle shifting, but this girth is STABLE without having to tighten it up as much! Also noticed she's not as tired/breathing hard, esp after challenging exercises like counter canter so the girth is indeed allowing her to breath better. Overall the GirthShield & resulting forwardness is AMAZING & I have a happy horse. Looks like I'll be needing a long-girth version now for our jump saddle :-)

I got the Girthshield because I noticed that my horse seemed to be breathing shallow and rapidly after a short workout with her old girth. Loosening the old girth changed her breathing immediately but the saddle slipped in the canter. With the Girthshield I have not seen the shallow and rapidly breathing and the saddle doesn’t move as much, so I think it is more comfortable for my horse. Quality seems good but to early to tell how it lasts, only been using for a couple of weeks.

About GirthShield

On Etsy since 2013

Happy horse = easy horse. Easy is good.

We're actually not all that interested in retail. But we are very interested in making a difference that riders will appreciate--and the horses appreciate even more.

It's time to stop the grumpy faces! Try a Girth Shield. You both will be happier.
If you want to see some details on how we did this see:
http://girthshield.wordpress.com/the-problem-and-the-solution/

For notes on how to measure please see our pictures. The overall length of your new girth will be two inches longer than one you are happy with now. The width of the shield we put in there for you will depend on your horse. 7-8 inches is average. 7.5 is our default. Anywhere from 6-10 is possible. Too narrow and it will not protect in the correct places. Too wide and you can get elbow infringement in the backward part of the stride. Best to measure.

Additional policies and FAQs
Some of our items have been used in testing--this will be clearly stated and the price will reflect this. Used does not mean a failure--if it failed we would have taken it apart and done it again. Keep in mind that some parts of your girth can and may need to be replaced from time to time. (The Girth Cozy for instance, or a felted girth after a while, particularly if you do not use a Girth Cozy.) We are happy to help with this.

Like any new piece of tack we hope and expect that you will monitor your horse's reactions and act in a safe manner.
