Since the Industrial Revolution, design has been around for over 150 years. There are a variety of social roles in design: to make beautiful things, to make commercial products, to solve social problems, etc. I visualize new perspectives on our daily objects through art book design and deliver them to people all over the world through bookstore sales, exhibitions and art book fairs.

GITAI is an experimental design project by Tokyo-based designer Tomoyuki Koseko. The theme is how could create amazing expressions from our daily objects inspired by the mimicry, the wonder of nature design.

The keyword of this project is "mismatch between appearance and substance". Like the mimicry of the flower mantis, which looks like a flower but inside is a mantis, I thought that it is important that the appearance and the substance are different in order to stimulate the imagination of the viewer. This relationship has been used since ancient times in Japan in Zen gardens and in the Karesansui style, where gravel and sand are found as water. The purpose of this project is to find the mismatch between the appearance and the substance from a design point of view.

As a result of actual production, I found new relationships such as "ham and planet", "map and annual ring", "key and metropolis", which are not connected by our stereotypes. In order to share these new wonders, I publish a series of art books. It is my hope that you will feel the possibility in encounter with the unknown mimicry hidden in the field of artificial objects.

Our mission is to be part of the distribution of creativity through bookmaking and to create an environment where people can express themselves more freely. In order to protect people from the oppression of expression, we aim to be an independent publishing movement, dealing directly with the market and selling our books face to face. We are also involved in planning, design and production.

Research and practice of visual culture, including mimicry.
High quality publications and works
Active exchange with independent publications from different cultures.
