Glad Creations Quilts | Rotary Cut and Machine Pieced Quilt Patterns From Our Family

Our story began even before we had a brick and mortar quilt shop. Gladys Raschka started a cottage business called Glad Creations making custom appliqué purses in 1971. Her basement was a busy place—making purses and greeting customers. As the years went on, all this activity began to outgrow her home. Meanwhile, Gladys’ daughter, Nancy Raschka graduated from college and developed an interest in quilting. In 1976 Gladys & Nancy decided to combine their interests and opened a quilt shop that could also handle taking orders and delivering Gladys' handmade purses—and so Glad Creations, Inc. Quilt Block came into being. In 1980, Susan Dyer (daughter of Gladys, sister of Nancy) joined the team.

Glad Creations operated as a thriving quilt shop in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood of South Minneapolis for over 40 years, serving the quilting community. In 1985 Susan and Nancy began designing quilt patterns for classes in the shop.

While the brick-and-mortar shop closed in April 2019 so that Susan and Nancy could retire, Glad Creations continues to flourish with our ongoing line of patterns, sold online and in quilt shops across the country. Susan's daughter, Emily Dyer, now runs the day-to-day operations of the pattern business out of her home in Northeast Minneapolis.

All Glad Creations patterns are designed for rotary cutting and machine piecing with clear and thorough instructions. We hope you'll browse our shop and enjoy!
