¡Hola! Soy María y soy la dueña de Glass By Design SF. Vivo y trabajo en San Francisco y he sido artista de vidrieras durante poco más de un año. Mi interés en aprender sobre la fabricación de vitrales comenzó cuando mi familia heredó una antigua casa victoriana en el vecindario de Dolores Heights cuando mi tío abuelo falleció hace muchos años. ¡La casa ha estado en mi familia por más de 100 años! La casa tenía un par de vidrieras originales que no sobrevivieron a la remodelación que mi padre hizo cuando la heredamos. Desde entonces, he estado planeando hacer nuevos paneles de vitrales para algunas de las ventanas.
Principalmente disfruto haciendo diseños geométricos, pero también me encanta hacer flores y piezas de paisajes al aire libre. Me encanta usar vidrio iridiscente y texturizado en mis piezas. ¡Me encanta que los arco iris se muestren en la refracción de la luz del vidrio iridiscente! Dedico la mayor parte de mi tiempo libre a hacer vidrieras. La mayoría de mis piezas están hechas a pedido, por lo que a veces puede llevarme hasta 2 semanas completar su pedido. ¡Estoy trabajando en el envío de pedidos más rápido!
Hello! I’m Maria and I am the owner of Glass By Design SF. I live and work in San Francisco and have been a stained glass artist for just over a year now. My interest in learning about making stained glass began when my family inherited an old Victorian house in the Dolores Heights neighborhood when my Great Uncle passed away many years ago. The house has been in my family for over 100 years! The house had a couple original stained glass windows which did not survive the remodel that my Father did when we inherited it. Since then, I have been planning on making new stained glass panels for a few of the windows.
I mainly enjoy making geometric designs but also love making flowers and outdoor scenery pieces. I love using iridescent and texturized glass in my pieces. I absolutely love that the rainbows show in the light refraction of the iridescent glass! I dedicate most of my free time making stained glass. Most of my pieces are made to order so sometimes it can take me up to 2 weeks to complete your order. I am working on shipping out orders faster!
