About

30 years ago, my first ignition of a blowtorch at age fourteen started my journey as a jewelry designer.

As a girl there were few things I loved more than running my fingers through vintage necklaces passed down from my loving grandmothers. Things that shimmered and sparkled always caught my eye. As I grew, I began disassembling them and making my own creations.
When I was fourteen, I took my first metal-smithing class, and with one ignition of a blowtorch I had found my path in life. I was fortunate to attend one out of only ten public high schools in the country with an advanced art program. After high school, I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and graduated with a degree in jewelry and gems.
After college, I mastered the technique of cloisonné enamel and developed my signature medium of miniature paintings created from layers of high fired powdered glass framed in precious metal settings. One of my first creations was an evil eye pendant. Twenty-five years later, my evil eyes remain one of my most popular (and imitated) lines.
All of my work is inspired by my mother and her battle with cancer. Like those necklaces passed down through the generations, her memory is my muse.
My jewelry is all handmade in my home studio in western Colorado.

Ever seeking to give back to my community, a portion of each sale is donated to an organization called Youth Rally. They create special camps for kids between 11 and 18 with Crohn's Disease and other diseases that affect the digestive tract. For more info about the organization. please visit:

My work is a fusion of powdered glass, luscious colors and precious metal into miniature paintings that bring bold accents of color to the human canvas on which they are worn. I rarely sketch out my designs or inspirations before manifesting my ideas into metal, glass or canvas unless the design is extremely intricate. I prefer to start with the raw materials themselves since I understand how they will respond. My designs and creations come from emotions or the path that life offers me as an individual. I design and fabricate all my jewelry from my home studio in Western Colorado. To maintain the integrity of my work, I am the sole creator of each piece from start to finish. Each piece is made with lots of love. Many Blessings, Julie Glassman
