About

Treasure of the Sea ~ With Love From Alaska!

I am a lifelong Alaskan and grew up in a very small town where my parents homesteaded in the 1950's. We spent many days on the beaches of the Kenai Peninsula and today the beach is like a huge magnet to me.

I find it fascinating there can be so many treasures lying around on the beaches and rivers of the world and the stories they could tell. I love and collect sea glass, shells, pretty stones, sea pottery, glass fishing floats, and anything shiny that catches my eye.

My husband has traveled to many places around the world, and he became hooked on beach-combing too. Whenever he has the opportunity he collects shells, stones, and sea glass for me.

I love the smooth beach stones found on my beaches and rivers here in Alaska. So many colors, shapes, and sizes. Wonderful for creating your own jewelry, make them into buttons, use them in your craft projects.

We have beach-combed and collected hundreds of pieces over the years. Etsy is perfect for sharing my collections with those of you that also love beach finds, nautical home decor, or for the amazingly talented Etsy artisans that create fine pieces from beach-found treasures I can provide.

I collect and sell Japanese glass fishing floats. They are absolutely gorgeous and fill most every basket, bowl, and dish in my home. They are so colorful and in many shapes and sizes. An awesome way to add the aqua blues and greens of the oceans and seas and I love that nautical feel in my home.

My glass floats are not imported. They have actually been found on Alaskan beaches by Alaskans. They broke away from fishing nets in Japan and floated all the way to my beaches. Others were collected by a friend in Hokkaido, Japan and I have been fortunate enough to have met him and added many more to my own collection. They are all genuine and were used by fishermen many years ago. You will love them.

I am very grateful for my faithful customers and for the wonderful friends I have met here on Etsy. Thank you for visiting, reading my story, and I sincerely hope you enjoy my collections of treasure from the sea ~ for you.
