About

from student to owner, always an artist

Laurel Marie Hagner is the owner and artist behind Glassometry Studios, located in Hood River, Oregon. She received her BFA cum laude from Northern Kentucky University in 2000, attended Penland School of Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School, and Centro Studio Vetro, in Venice, Italy. She has taught glass and metal sculpture classes at the Pratt Fine Arts Center, The Pacific Northwest College of Art, Brookfield Craft Center, The Art Academy of Cincinnati, Louisville Glassworks, Glass Axis, and was the Chair of the Glass Program at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon. Between 2003-2005 she was the Head of the Special Projects Dept at Savoy Studios in Portland, Oregon where she honed her skills at large scale architectural glass production. She has completed numerous private and public commissions around the country and continues to break ground on her own artwork.

Glassometry Studios, is an 8,500 sq ft glass and metal sculpture studio designed and built by Laurel, and includes a Hot Shop, Kiln-Forming area for architectural production, a Metal shop, Wood shop, Cold Shop, Gallery, Sculpture Garden, and Sculpting and Design Spaces for large projects. Laurel’s mission as an artist is to continuously evolve not only as a craftsperson, but also as one who is sharing ideas and opportunities of expression with the community. In the midst of jobs, new artwork, and classes, she continues to pursue creating public art, commissions, and teaching appointments around the country.

The studio is always juggling a number of mid to small commissions from custom lighting and sinks, to function wares, to larger more involved mixed media sculpture. Past projects and available artwork can be seen on her website at www.glassometry.com as well as facebook. A documentary video and talk show interview of Laurel can also be seen You tube. Please feel free to contact the studio with any questions or inquiries.
