The tecnique used in most of our designs is called Macrame. Although sometimes referred to as ‘Chinese knotting’, the history of macramé dates back long before it was discovered in China. It is believed to have had originated in Arabia during the 13th century. When the Moors conquered Spain in 711 AD, they brought this artform with them. From Spain, it spread to other European countries. Sailors then picked up on the technique and kept it alive over the years. While out to sea, these sailors would knot thick twine into decorated pieces that could be sold or traded when they went ashore.
Today a micro macrame is being used to make art in central and south america, where travelling artisanos make a living selling their colourful and unique designs in the streets.

Many of the stones we use are from Central America and have been collected during our travels. The ambar comes from the Chiapas region in Mexico. . We only use the highest quality waxed string from Brazil so that the pieces we make will last a lifetime.

The Karen Hill tribe silver used is 99.5 pure fine silver totally handcrafted by local artisans in Myanmar.
