GlossArtGlass' Shop Announcement

Welcome to Gloss Art Glass, featuring art glass plates, bowls, platers, unique glass night lights, and one of a kind silver, gold, glass and gemstone jewelry. Gloss is located just outside of St. Paul in glorious Minnesota, and is run by artists Greg and Jennifer Wagner. It's pretty chilly here half the year, but between the torch and the kiln, life in the studio couldn't be hotter!

Yes, we make our own beads! From start to finish, each handmade glass, silver and mixed media item is one of a kind. Enjoy browsing, and if you saw something at show that you don't see here, but just have to have, please let us know. Not everything we do, or have on hand, makes it to this site!

A couple of FAQ and unsolicited facts:

All of our glass beads, plates, night lights, etc are handmade by us. We start from scratch and use a number of techniques to achieve our end result. This includes fusing, torch-work, grinding and other cold-working techniques, etching, and sandblasting.

People always ask if our earrings are heavy, or pull at the lobes. Surprisingly, they are NOT! Because we work with thin glass and slight materials, most of earring tend to be much lighter than they look. They're super comfortable to wear and don't stretch the lobe. Some of our three bead earrings are a little heavier than the rest of our one and two bead creations, but for the most part, they're no heavier than most base metal costume jewelry you buy in stores.

Because almost all of our necklaces are adjustable in length, including our chokers, almost every design has a hook clasp and some sort of pretty bead, or semi-precious stone drop on one end. As a result, should you chose to wear the necklace higher, leaving a bit of dangling chain in back, your necklace (or the exposed chain) will look just as pretty and polished as it does from the front.

For the most part, we only use Sterling Silver, Silver, and 14k Gold-fill in our jewelry. However, since the precious metal market is so volatile, and prices are skyrocketing, we have been experimenting with copper, rose gold, and gold/silver plated chains and wire. We don't use anything with nickel and try to cater to our skin-sensitive clients. However, unless an item is sterling silver, vermille, or gold fill, we can't guarantee the metals won't be irritating. In the five years we've been in business, this has never been a problem, but we want to make sure you have as much info as possible to make the best possible buying decisions!

We do tons of custom work. If you see something you want in a slightly different color or style (nigh lights, jewelry, plates, etc.), e-mail us and we'll work with you to come up with something perfect. And while all of our custom work is guaranteed, if it's not what you envisioned, you're not obligated to buy it.

We guarantee the quality of all our jewelry! That said, everything is handmade and once in a while things do happen. In the event something happens that isn't within the scope of normal wear and tear, send it back to us (we'll pay you back for postage) and we'll fix it and send it back good as new, ASAP.

Our beads are made from glass. The glass is hardy and annealed, and works well in our jewelry designs, and I've had pieces that have been through the ringer unscathed year after year. BUT a bead might break if you drop it on stone, cement, etc. Generally, we consider this normal wear and tear, and will not fix the bead and/or make a replacement one without a charge (which varies depending on what needs to be done). However, if a bead breaks and you want it fixed or replaced, we will try to work with you.

All of our plates, platters, bowls, etc. are food safe unless noted.

All of our plates, platters, bowls, etc. are dishwasher safe, however to preserve the glass from harsh irritants over time, we recommend hand washing with a mild soap.

We make custom Passover plates; drop us an e-mail if you're interested. Prices average around $160.00.

All of our shipping prices are approximations as we get started here. If for some reason we're off by more than a few dollars (then we'll just eat it), we'll contact you ASAP to let you know before shipping. If it's lower, we'll just charge you less. Hopefully, we'll get better and better at this as we get going!
