5 out of 5 starsThis beautiful Raku urn graces our mantle. It holds the ashes of our beloved poi dog, Maggie, who made our lives so much richer. Our little pup left us us too early, and I searched for the perfect vessel. This is it - a work of heart - the artist is more than a talented raku creator, she enclosed a special note that made us smile thru our sadness. She also packs her
treasures so your chosen piece will arrive in all its beauty and style. Thank you, thank you, thank you. -

5 out of 5 starsThis is a stunning piece of pottery. I'm giving it as a Christmas gift and will be proud to do so. Now I have to admit that the box Mary shipped it in arrived badly damaged via the postal service. Fortunately - Mary had double packed it and the piece arrived unscathed. So I had the opportunity to correspond with Mary during this episode and she was immediately involved in rectifying the situation, taking actions to replace the pottery if need be for the gift and following up with me to make sure all was well. I would endorse Golden Raku Pottery 100% for her gorgeous pottery, professionalism and her terrific entrepreneurship.

About GoldenRakuPottery
-
Centering the clay on the potter's wheel begins.
-
The clay is centered and compressed to remove air bubbles.
-
After the clay is centered, it is then opened. A bottom and walls of a vessel are beginning to be formed
-
With each turn of the vessel it increases in size and is fine tuned in its shape.
-
The finishing touches to the thrown vessel. The piece will dry, then be bisque fired, glazed, and raku fired.
Raku Pottery Singular in Beauty, Timeless in Elegance
My Golden Raku Pottery is a singular pottery using a firing technique
dating back to 16th century Japan. During the 1950-60’s,
this ancient art of Raku was given a Western twist
by legendary artist, Paul Soldner, among other artists.
Following this “East Meets West” Raku combination, I use a white crackle glaze and fire my work in an outdoor kiln to just about 1800 degrees.
Using long metal tongs, I remove the red-hot pottery then place it into a fire-proof chamber containing combustible materials. The heat causes the combustibles to ignite into flames. The container is tightly covered, and then serendipity goes to work.
The smoke of the combustibles is absorbed by the unglazed clay, and into the crackels of the glaze. With the often unpredictable fires of Raku, my goal is to create unique pieces of art that are truly treasures of grace and beauty.
All of my work is individually handmade on a pottery wheel, and raku fired by me resulting in unique, one-of-a-kind vessels. No pre-made molds are used.
Thank you for touring my shop. Feel free to contact me with any questions about my work, delivery procedure, my personal guarantee of customer satisfaction or any other questions about Golden Raku Pottery.
Warm Regards,
MH Rowland
