About:
For a long time I only dreamed of traveling to exotic locales, but something always kept me from going, usually lack of time and/or money. But that all changed in 2011, when I went to the Ivory Coast, in West Africa. There, I saw artisans and craftspeople creating wonderful quality clothes, jewelry, cookware, and household goods I’ve never seen in the US. A customer only needed to discuss with the crafts person what they desired. Then a few days later, the item would be completed to their exact specifications! So I tried it, and commissioned a leather attaché case for my laptop.
When I came back to the US, I got approached constantly by people who complimented my attaché case, and asked where they could order a similar case. Then one day, a woman in New York offered to buy mine for $400, and I sold it. This transaction gave me the idea of starting a company that commissions and designs high quality items that skilled artisans and craftspeople from around the world create.
So in 2014, I started Gomis, and so far we’ve worked with craftspeople in Brazil, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam to bring products that you will not find anywhere else.

Shop policies
Here you will find items that come from around the world. As a traveler, I've been fortunate to purchase quality items from people in the US, and around the globe. I hope you will find something that you like. If not, come back every week I update the inventory with more and more items that you can't find anywhere else.
If you're interested in learning about a specific product, don't hesitate to ask. I will gladly provide you with all the information I know.

Payment
Layaway services to customers:
Any item or items that TOTAL $100.00 or more may be purchased through a layaway plan. To place an item(s) in lay-away, please contact me through the contact the seller button on the item's listing. I will then explain how to start the procedure.
Layaway is not available for sale or discounted items.
You may keep the item(s) in lay-away up to ninety (90) days, with payments being made every monthly or more often if you wish..
A non-refundable down payment of 1/3 of the purchase price is made when the item(s) is placed in layaway.
The balance is invoiced through PayPal with the amount due and the date it is due. Once the item(s) are paid in full (including postage), the item(s) will be shipped. If more than one item is involved in the layaway, no items may be deleted from the Lay-Away. Additional items may not be added to an established Lay-Away.
All payments for layaway are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Stay in touch, please. Problems arise in life and I'm willing to consider amending the layaway terms, if needed. We've all had unexpected expenses occur. After two weeks of no customer contact and a missed payment, the layaway will be cancelled.

All items will be mailed by USPS First Class Mail, unless otherwise asked indicated. Please be aware, any increase in shipping cost will be paid by the purchaser.
Internationally:
All items will be mailed by USPS First-Class Package International Service. If you request a different service provider, please let me know in a message, and I will work towards satisfying your request. Please be aware, any increase in shipping cost will be paid by the purchaser.
