We've had very cold weather lately. My heat pump doesn't keep the house very warm so I've been wearing this cowl every day since I got it. It's very warm and comforting. I would prefer it to be a bit more snug around the neck to decrease bulk and keep in heat; does not work super well as a head cover because it's too short. Despite those criticisms, it's doing a fine job of keeping me warm and I really like it. It keeps neck, ears and lower face toasty. Lovely knit. Fast shipping.
Finding Hidden Potential in the World Around Us
“Doesn’t the potter have the right to shape the clay in any way he chooses? Can’t he make one lump into an elegant vase, and another into a common jug?”
I love to take commonplace objects and create something new – allowing them to shine in a whole new light. The common term today is “upcycling”. Even though something is seen as having one purpose, it doesn’t mean that there is not potential for so much more. Isn’t that true of each of us as well? I love to see beyond the exterior – what everyone sees – and find hidden beauty, creativity and imagination.
My inspiration comes from the incredible complexity of created design in those around me – their culture, heritage, loves and originality – and from the diversity in nature. My ultimate desire is to give honor to the Creator in thanks for the ability to spark inventive play or even just a smile or contemplative thought.
Gone2Pieces is an eclectic mix of creativity, because inspiration can come from any direction! Musician, Judy Collins, said it well; “I think people who are creative are the luckiest people on earth. I know that there are no shortcuts, but you must keep your faith in something Greater than You, and keep doing what you love. Do what you love, and you will find the way to get it out to the world.” Gone2Pieces has been that outlet for me and a vehicle for others to begin their journey in creativity. Through the years, I have been blessed to share this journey with my family – as fellow designers and shop managers. Our talented team is dedicated to bringing quality, handcrafted art to a varied audience and includes some Native American handiwork, each piece attributed to the specific designer and tribe. We have been open since 1989 and on Etsy since 2009. In our commitment to give back, a portion of each sale is given to a non-profit organization chosen by our executive team.
As with inspiration, materials available and creativity, the items available at Gone2Pieces vary and change constantly. I encourage you to visit often and see what sparks have ignited!
