Today the high in Wisconsin is 57! Time to get out the slow cooker and knit hats. fallen_leafleaves
Knitting on the shores of Lake Michigan has become my new # 1 spot to knit. Lovely to be able to finish this hat on a day trip with great friends.
After moving to a rural area from a big city, I realized I lived near at least 3 family farms that spin their own wool yarn. My son and I love meeting the happy goats & sheep. ramgoat Feels great to knit with this yarn and support small farms.

About

Hand Knit & Stitch by Kim Konen

My name is Kim. I want you to feel like this today: warm, messy, hopeful and funny.

Thoughtful design inspires each one of my products. As my story evolves, so do my designs. I make accessories that align with my lifestyle, reflect positivity and hopefully help you feel good.

Naturally, having kids has led me to make things for tiny people. I moved from New York City to rural Wisconsin 2 years ago with my husband and small son and have since been indulging in the slow art of knitting and quilting. My studio space is set up in my house where I work early mornings, toddler naptimes and late into the evenings. All year long I have my knitting needles close so I can make new woolly hats when I feel inspired. This Fall 2016, we will be welcoming our new baby girl to the family. I can't wait to see what she inspires me to make.

I began my small business making handbags and crocheted neckwear for the urban explorer, which is exactly who I was in 2008. Prior to selling on Etsy, I made simple clothing for the carefree twenty-something who loves to jump around and embrace summer.

Take a look at my crafty blog to see my growing catalog of custom quilts and read about my #quiltAmonth project, a self-motivating challenge for 2015. http://simplewarmcozy.tumblr.com/

Working at Etsy, Inc.
For nearly 5 years (February 2010 - October 2014) I worked for Etsy on the Member Operations team in Brooklyn, NY. My most favorite project was managing the Team Fellowship Program, a quarterly program developed to bring communities of Etsy sellers together to build strength. Overall, I'm proud of the work I did that was pulled from a place of empathy and shared acknowledgment of seller integrity, ambition and struggle. Helping sellers to recognize their individual fears and strengths gave me a personal sense of purpose.

In 2013, I became a mom to my little boy. He nearly arrived at the Etsy office in Brooklyn, but luckily held out until we were in a more appropriate setting.

In 2014, I left my job at Etsy and moved my family to a tiny town in eastern Wisconsin. I am thrilled to be a part of the Etsy community again as a maker, entrepreneur, and new stay at home mom.

2015 - I learned how to cook and be a stay at home mom. I also taught myself how to quilt and now I am obsessed.

2016 - Our family is growing! Baby girl due this Fall.

Here's to a simple, warm and cozy life.

Sizing details

Hand Knit Winter Pom Pom Hats

Each hat is designed and hand knit by me. Every kid's head is different in size and I keep that in mind when knitting and sizing. To ensure that your hat will fit, I highly recommended that you measure the recipient's head before completing the purchase.

1. Measure the crown of the head.
2. Measure on top of the head from ear to ear.
3. Compare these measurements to the measurements of the hat provided in each individual listing.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All items come gift wrapped in recycled packing paper with string. I try to use all recycled materials when packing to reduce our carbon footprint.
