Presenting... Good Fortune Fiber!

Greetings! Heidi's journey with fiber began with natural dying in the early 2000s and progressed to spinning and knitting after attending a week long intensive at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. Heidi and her partner live on an urban homestead in Asheville, NC where they raise chickens, bees, gardens and French angora rabbits. Under her herbal company Marvelous Marigold, Heidi makes and sells natural herbal beauty products and soaps. In addition to homesteading, Heidi also enjoys biking, sewing, contortion training, and playing on the static trapeze.
Thanks for checking us out!

Shop members

  • Heidi Kouri

    Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator

Heidi is a nurse-herbalist and a woodland creature at heart. She loves crafting with plants & animal fibers, sewing, watercolor painting, bee-keeping, and she aspires to have her own fiber farm one day. She also loves playing on the static trapeze!

  • Launa

    Producer

Launa is the first French angora rabbit on our homestead. She is a bit feisty but loves to kiss us humans and her nephew, Buck. She was named after an elder in our local fiber community.

  • Rosa

    Producer

Rosa is a five year old female French angora rabbit. She is Buck's mother and Launa's sister. She is very gentle and kind and loves to dig holes. Her fur gets to be around four inches long; here she is shown freshly shorn.

  • Walter

    Producer

Walter is a 2 yr. old Buck who came to our homestead May 2015. He has sensually fluffy white fur that compliments the does' grey. He has a gentle disposition and is crazy about clover!

  • Buck

    Producer

RIP Buck He was very gentle and loved attention. Buck was often seen at fiber festivals and neighborhood Easter parties.

  • Joplin

    Manager

Joplin has been Heidi's right hand man since 2002. He keeps everyone in line with his motorboat purrs and morning snuggles. Here he shows his deep appreciation of fiber in front of the wood stove.

  • Pearl

    Quality Control

Pearl is our youngest member, having just moved to Asheville in December 2014 after being rescued from a woodshed in rural Iowa. She has a fondness for yarn and a sharp eye (and claw) for quality and comfort.
