Fashion designer finds herself making shoes and loving it.

I'm a stay at home mom with a degree in fashion design. When my middle child was born, I crafted him a tiny pair of shoes and a few other little items made from one of his father's old sweaters. Fourteen months later, his little sister was born, the only girl in our brood. I wanted to make her first pair of shoes. So, I made another soft and sweet pair from another of dad's old sweaters.

I loved the process so much, that I thought I would make house shoes for all of the girls in my family as Christmas gifts. They were such a hit, that friends who saw them asked where they could get a pair. And suddenly I was in business.

For the last couple of years, I have had a steady three month wait list for my custom shoes. I've also been able to expand into jewelry, partnering with Sole Hope, dedicating $10 from each sale to purchase a pair of shoes for a child in Uganda. I was also asked to design a pair of shoes for them to sell stateside to raise money for their mission. I feel so honored.

While getting my BFA in Fashion Design, I never imagined that I would one day stay up late while my children were sleeping to design and make shoes. But, I must say, I am in love with the work I have found for my hands to do.
