A twisted look at quilting

When I was a senior in high school, my friend's mom opened a quilt store. I knew how to crochet, knit, cross stitch, needlepoint, and hand sew a pillow, so I wanted to see what this whole quilting thing was all about. I quickly became obsessed. I tended to design my own quilt patterns since I had trouble following other people's directions.

Fast forward a few years and I was working at a (different) quilt shop. I had just purchased a Twister ruler and wanted to do a class with it. The owner said (nicely) "why would someone want to take this class? What's special that they can't get by just buying a pattern?" I took that advice, got to drawing, and came up with my Twisted Jack pumpkin pattern. I ran the class twice and both times it was full. I also printed the patterns and sold them in the shop. From there, I designed and made 3 more twister quilts, and have a list of 9 more that I want to do.

When the quilt shop went out of business, it finally gave me the courage to launch my blog (gorramquilts.com) as well as open this Etsy shop. I am very grateful for everyone who encouraged me to keep going forward.
