Lockets can be customized on the front and inside. Photos can be resized, printed and placed in the locket before shipping. Please note that there are additional charges associated with customization; message me prior to ordering for pricing info.

Please note that the "Solid Brass" designation for lockets refers to the fact that the locket is not plated with anything and is true brass all the way through. The lockets are made from sheets of brass formed into the locket to keep them affordable and lightweight. They have standard locket construction, using a metal tab formed from the brass sheet to catch onto a corresponding hole. The best way to open them is by sliding your nail between the two sides. Please see my policies on locket care and message me before purchase if you have any questions.

All my pieces are made by me with love and meticulous care. My jewelry is intended for adults (aged 15+ years). I make many of my materials myself but what I can or do not make (chains, for instance) I purchase from either other artists and/or manufacturers in the USA whenever possible.

The locket was beautiful. I purchased it for my mother's birthday and she was brought to tears by it. There was a mistake with the locket (caused by my own oversight) but it was quickly and professionally dealt with and I received the correct item without issue. I am so happy with my purchase and I was definitely be recommending GossamerScapes to my friends. Thank you, Maria!

About

It starts and ends in my little studio in Maine- with me.

I've always wanted to be an *artist* ever since I was 10 and would draw and create every day. After graduating from high school, I went to college and received a BA in Art Education. Due to the uncertain job market and my desire to start a family, I never pursued it as my career. In 2010, I started making jewelry out of the portraits and landscaped I photographed. It was a gateway to all sorts of pretty things, and soon I found myself branching out! I have what I call "the eye of the dragon" which is similar to a magpie's desire for shiny things, but magnified 1000 fold! So I am always creating, always staying true to my eclectic tastes- because, hey, if something doesn't happen to sell, *I* should at least like it, right?

My head is brimming over with ideas and things I want to try. I keep myself going and growing, which is why there is such a variety in my shop. If it seems hodge-podge, it's because I refuse to reign in my creativity to fit a mold. If you met me, you'd immediately see that my shop reflects my spirit!

I'm all about trying new things. I love it when I am contacted by someone who wants something but they don't know what. I glean information from them about why they want a piece and what it will mean to them, and then create. People have been so overwhelmed when they see their final piece that they start crying.

It's just me and my tools in my little Maine studio. If I use components in my work instead of making them from scratch, I take my time to carefully select them from reputable artists and manufacturers. I truly believe in handcrafted quality and creating unique items. When you purchase an item from me, you can be assured that it came from my hands to yours. I wouldn't want you to wear anything less.

I feel like I *connect* with people through my artistry, and that is the most amazing feeling in the world.

Please be sure to check your email as I may contact you to clarify your order and/or update you on its progress. Failure to do so could result in a delay in finishing or shipping your piece.

Thank you for your understanding of the handmade process and my commitment to creating quality work.

Please see the following link for more information on what it looks like: http://www.etsy.com/help/article/361 Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
Shipping
Shipping is via USPS first class with delivery confirmation by default. Please be sure to carefully verify the address you provide; I cannot be held responsible for lost, misdelivered or undeliverable/returned packages if the address I am provided and use is incorrect. I try to reach out when I am alerted that an address does not match USPS records, however this can delay the shipping of your package. USPS Priority Mail pricing includes price of postage, packaging, as well as Priority delivery to the post office for shipping. Normally USPS first class mail packages are dropped off a couple times a week but for those who select the Priority Mail upgrade I make a dedicated trip to the post office for your package as soon as it is completed.

Additional carriers, services available- please message before purchase for cost.

For international buyers, please allow time for the package to clear customs. This could take a couple days to several weeks. I wish I had control over the wait time, but alas I do not. USPS does not always update their tracking numbers beyond leaving the country in a timely manner- if you would like to have your package shipped through another carrier (at an additional cost) please let me know before ordering.

I ship to the address listed on paypal if paypal is used. Please ensure that your address matches or use the direct checkout feature if you are shipping a gift directly to the recipient.

First Class and priority mail times are not guaranteed by the USPS.

Please note that I am shipping from the USA. Depending on where you live, your local, regional or national government or agency may apply taxes, customs, VATs or other duties in order for you to receive your purchase. These are not shipping charges and I have no control over them; they are the responsibility of the buyer. If you are unsure whether your order may be subject to such a charge, please check with your government and postal carrier before you purchase.

Dear potential UK buyers:

Due to increased costs and VAT issues, I am no longer shipping to the UK without a specific acknowledgement about VAT taxes and that they are the responsibility of the buyer. It has simply and unfortunately become too costly for me to sell to the UK through my default listings and I need to keep prices reasonable for the bulk of my clientele.

I am not responsible for packages that are lost or returned to sender due to incorrect/un-updated addresses entered in Etsy and/or Paypal. Please be sure to verify that your address is correct prior to purchase. Should your package be returned, I am happy to reship at your cost.

I do my best to get packages to the USPS in a timely fashion and each one ships with a tracking number. Please use the tracking number to follow the package and check mail promptly when it shows it has arrived. I cannot replace or resend packages that show as delivered within the USPS mail system. You may add insurance and signature confirmation to your order at an additional charge by sending me a convo prior to purchase.
Refunds and Exchanges
Each piece is handmade by me and as such may have small differences that are the hallmarks of handmade goods.

I value my clients and do my best to ensure a quality experience and craftsmanship. If there happens to be an issue, please, please contact me ASAP and let me know. I am happy to work with you to arrive at a resolution works for both of us.

Please understand that I am not able to provide refunds for custom orders- please double check your order and message me if you have any questions. If you are ordering something that has customization, I am happy to send you a photo for approval prior to shipping the item. Simply include a message to seller during checkout and I will follow up with you when your piece is completed. The decision of whether a refund or exchange is offered/issued is solely the decision of the artist, will be made on a case by case basis, and should a refund/exchange be approved, it is completely contingent upon receiving the item back in new, unused, original condition. I examine each situation individually. Please note if a return is accepted, that original shipping fees and/or return shipping fees will not be refunded. There may also be a restocking fee percentage based on the purchase price of the item.

If your item somehow is returned to me, I will contact you to verify shipping information again and can reship at your cost. International customers- your post office may hold your item until you pay your custom duties/VAT- I will not refund your purchase if you do not pick it up. If they send it back to me, I can reship at your cost (must be paid before I will ship your item again).

Sized items/rings:

I make each ring to order based on the size I am provided; should your ring arrive and have a different fit than what you intend, I can resize simple rings up or down once at no additional charge beyond the cost of shipping/insurance for you to send the ring back to me (within the USA, international purchases will have an additional shipping fee to pay due to the high cost of shipping) In order to qualify for the resizing and due to personal fluctuations that can cause a ring to fit differently, I must be contacted within 24 hours after confirmed delivery by the USPS. I am happy to resize if contacted after this point but there will be a resizing charge. Since some ring mandrels can vary slightly, I also require you go to a local jeweler to have your finger and the ring sized before shipping so that I know how much the ring differs from your perferred measurement.

Locket/jewelry care:

Following these simple steps will help keep your locket in good condition over the long term. I still have the first lockets I made and tested over two years ago (plus I have tried several methods to remove the messages-usually when I mess up placement-and it’s very difficult to do) so I know they are long lasting as long as they are treated with care. These instructions are similar to the ones you will find on most jewelry/fine jewelry websites.

These lockets are sealed but not waterproof. Do not store them in areas of high humidity (like a bathroom) or wear them in the shower, swimming, during exercise or any other strenuous activity.
Be sure that all sprays, lotions, makeup etc is applied and dry before wearing the locket.
The lockets are raw brass and will patina over time.
Do not clean your locket- it is meant to age naturally.
Don’t sleep with your locket on.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to work with you on custom orders, so don't hesitate to convo me!

As an artist who wants to be sure my clients are happy with their pieces, I do reserve the right to decline or cancel orders at any time for any reason. Typically this may be due to a difference in vision, whether the request is compatible with my style and/or skills, or if I feel that I cannot do justice to the idea or piece in the timeframe requested.

My pieces are a combination of art and jewelry; they are designed for persons who are 15+ years of age. I source quality materials (mostly from the USA) but do use small pieces (choking hazard) and use crystals in my work- true crystal contains lead (which is why it is so sparkly) but current US law prohibits them for being used in children's jewelry ( please see this discussion for more info: https://www.etsy.com/teams/6861/keeping-up-with-cpsia/discuss/7624398/ )
