I love to sew!
Hello grownups who like to dress up and get serious about playtime! I love making Medieval and Renaissance garb and have enjoyed nearly 2 decades of merchanting at events. Seeing my creations go past on fellow SCA members, each of whom have added their own personal flair to their outfit, has been very satisfying. Though I must agree with the late David Bowie when he said he felt forever 20 – what is this “60” thing they talk about, I must admit I am getting older and the set up for event merchanting had become too much to deal with. Heavy canvas tents and weather never seem to mix well. I am very happy for the outlet that etsy has provided for my creative side and allowing me to keep supplying fellow re-enactors with the garb and accessories they need to play and learn. No tent required!
I have been active with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) for 30 years. I became involved when my then 5 year old son took a “Communiversity” class making cardboard helmets and duck tape covered swords. He loved it and I met the adults and discovered the wide variety of creative outlets the SCA offered. Years of research, many books purchased, and classes attended opened up an entirely new way for me to express myself through my lifelong love of sewing. I happily share that on this site.
I met my husband through the SCA and found that the adventures were just getting started. He has always been very supportive of my Medieval merchanting endeavors. As I have moved from the "wet tent" merchanting to online sales through etsy I have needed his expertise with computers as well as design assistance to expand my offerings. He is knowledgeable about fabrics so he shops for me so I can keep sewing. As I make my own patterns our collaborative head scratching when working out a cosplay request or how to make a Medieval garment work in a modern world can save the day.
Myself and my family practice Leave No Trace. We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We follow the "Three Rs" - reduce, reuse, recycle.
We do have cats, a dog, a rabbit, and an ocelot. They are not allowed in my workshop which is a separate structure on our heavily wooded land. In spite of that there may be “pet” on me as well as pollens from the forest and gardens.
Ready made items ship in 2-3 business days after PayPal payment is received. I can accept custom requests, such as certain fabrics or sizes. In most cases I would ship a custom item in 10 business days or less.
I do not give out my patterns as I have spent years developing and refining them.
Owner, Creator, Customer Service
I am a mother of three and the grandmother of four. I began sewing when I was 5 years old. In many forms over the past 55 years I have experimented, supported my family with my skills, and kept an unending passion for fiber arts.
Owner, Designer, Shipper
I am Priscilla's husband and have recently found myself more involved in the etsy shop she started. I provide computer support, shipping, design advising, and leather working. I draw on my SCA experiences to expand the shop offerings.
Accepted payment methods
If you are ordering several items that I will be shipping together, convo me about a combined shipping cost. It will likely be less than the individual shipping totals together. Just a note: 2 items added together often do not affect the cost of shipping - ask anyway just in case but often they fit in the same box and the weight is still in the same price range.
If an order, either ready made or custom, is shipped either Priority or Express and delivery is attempted according to the shipper's policies but remains unclaimed to the point that it is returned to me as "unclaimed", I will e-mail you that it is back in my possession and ask for instructions on what you would like done with it. If I do not hear from you in one week I will e-mail you again. If after another week passes I have not heard from you the items will become part of my shop's inventory and be listed for sale.
If a custom item has been agreed before the placement of the order that if it doesn't fit and some adjustment must be made, the buyer pays return shipping. Item must arrive back to me within 10 business days or the alteration agreement is void. I will pay return shipping. If a non-custom order is requested to be cancelled and I have not shipped it yet I can return the price paid less the fees taken out by etsy and PayPal.
I can ship International by request.
Refunds and Exchanges
Custom items requiring the ordering or purchasing of special materials cannot be canceled after placement as the special items will already be ordered and, in most cases, unreturnable.
If an item is damaged please do not alter, clean or otherwise change it from the state in which it arrived to you. I have had packages sent to myself where the delivery service is at fault for the problem. This needs to be determined. Buyer pays return shipping.
To be able to track an unreceived package for which I have provided you the tracking number, contact the USPS. There are no refunds for packages lost by the USPS. You must get your refund from their insurance which is included in the shipping cost. What delivery guarantee services you feel comfortable with are your choice, see above in shipping for more detailed information.
