About

Life is a circus, have some popcorn.

Grand Circus Paper & Toy was an idea to use printmaking techniques to produce multiple works of affordable art. Pieces were to be produced in small editions of 100 and sold through subscriptions. I would need a studio for screenprinting, letterpress, woodwork, and painting. The front half of the studio would be the gallery toy store where all the editions would be shown.

It seemed like a huge undertaking so instead I made these paper toys in photoshop and printed them on a laser printer. When I first took them to a street festival in 2009, the sales shocked me so I made an Etsy store. Art festivals found me here and I was invited to do many shows in Philadelphia. In 2012 I moved to the Hudson Valley and continued to do a few shows in Brooklyn and Hudson, NY.

Last year, I put my studio in storage, sold my car, and my cat, and went to Mexico for the winter. I hitchhiked and rode second class buses around southern Mexico and Guatemala until May. When I returned I left my etsy store on vacation.

I moved, got a job, life is good. I produced a poetry zine with two of my poet friends that came out nice so we are doing them quarterly and they are exactly the thing I wanted to add to the Grand Circus line. So, I'll post those soon.
