Announcement   If you're looking for the kind of ceramic silliness you won't find anywhere else, you've come to the right place.

"An idle claim," you say?

When you have a moment, see if you agree. Search Etsy for "ceramic mezuzah" (or, see the photos in the About section, below) and come back here ONLY if you can tell which ones were handmade by Grandpa Toys.

Welcome back.

Take your time as you meander through my shop of "cartoon folk art"-styled pieces. If my art makes you smile and you can imagine something that you don't see, let me know. Not sure where to begin? In addition to those pieces currently available, check out those which have already been purchased, below. You are also welcome to view (and join) my Facebook fan page which features pictures of pieces I've created for family and friends.

Thanks for your time. I hope you enjoy your visit and, if you do, please tell your friends.

About

Grandpa Toys' Style of Cartoon Folk Art in Clay

Married forty-plus years, Grandma Toys, a one-time reading specialist, once told me I was a "divergent thinker" as opposed to a "convergent thinker". I believe it means that, if I could find the box, I would think outside of it.

In anticipation of having time to fill once I retired, I took a ceramics class through the Cherry Hill Recreation Dept. My inability to find our instructor's "box" when she suggested we make a plate or a bowl resulted in a planter (see photo above). It was so much fun, when the classes ended I bought 25 lbs of clay at a local art supply store.

A child of the Fifties, I suppose it was inevitable that my longtime childhood love affair with TV cartoon shows would manifest itself in my art -- hence, my description of my style as cartoon folk art.

It didn't take long before I was creating pieces for family and friends. (Photos are available on my Facebook page.) After my son told me about Etsy, I opened this shop and stocked the shelves with Finger Faces which had so amused my baby grandson, Ethan (which led to my shop's slogan: Ceramic-Induced Smiles Since 2008).

If my ceramic silliness makes you smile and you would like something you haven't seen -- here or anywhere else -- I'd be happy to discuss making it for you.

Because I want you to love your piece, I offer a full refund (not including shipping) if you contact me within a few days of receiving the craft. If you choose to return the piece, please ship it as I did, requesting delivery confirmation. I cannot be responsible for items not returned in their original condition.
Additional policies and FAQs
I generally wait for the "muse" to strike when I'm not otherwise creating something for family or friends. If you would like to suggest a modification to something you've seen or you want to propose something altogether different, let me know. I would much prefer to create something especially to your liking. If you'd like, you can see some of the things I've made for my family and friends on my GrandpaToys Facebook Fan page. Please understand that I cannot make something for you that includes a copyrighted image. But, anything else...

One last thing (which I learned from the movies): Any similarity between my Finger Faces, Door Faces, Personal Avatars and any person, living or dead, is totally coincidental (unless, of course, it was intended).
