Announcement   Thank you to Everyone and Anyone for your patience with my time off. My two weeks of camp nursing ended up being a month and a half! It was wonderful and affirming and my granddaughter had a magical, busy, fun-filled time. The staff was so so so good to Jaillie! So welcome home, all those who wander (and are not lost).
I am shaking out the mothballs from my nursing cap and I will be caring for, saving, nurturing, performing BLS whenever necessary, attending to insect bites, heat stroke, sun burns, broken limbs, and general homesickness for the camp my children grew up attending. When my weens were wee I did this every year. I swapped nursing for camperships for my cherubs (hey...I couldn't have afforded to send them to camp otherwise. Worked slick as hensh*#.) Now it's my grandiechilluns that are going. Please feel free to send energy/prayers/Reiki/whatever ye got in your bag of tricks. All is gratefully appreciated. The kids will probably appreciate it, too. They USED to think I was cool but it's hard being cool with grey hair, trifocals, and dentures that occasionally decide to take leave of their home and poke out at inopportune times. Psssttt...that has actually happened. It's a story for another time, but only if you ask.
Soooo, see you when I return. Glasses and dentures still in place. I hope.

Much of the material I use is up cycled and/or repurposed. The rescued material is just that: Rescued. That means that it may not be in brandy-new shape but is still useable, probably even better for it contains it's own story. The new material that I use is the highest quality I have available to me. I work under the supervision of an assortment of animals, who happily provide guidance and warmth, entwining themselves around my legs and often sit perched atop the chair I am sitting in while I am creating my Lovelies or next to my seat in the gardens. I have one snarky little kitty who sleeps on my face. Not on top of my head, not around my neck. ON MY FACE. He's a real gem of a cat. In the winter, they curl up next to me on the couch and we all cozy down in front of our woodstove. In the summer, they follow me outside, hunting and playing in the woods and gardens that encircle our home, thus ensuring love and peace is being transfused into everything I create, unless it's at the same time as that one wee demon is sleeping On My Face. I don't feel peaceful then. I am more than happy to take special orders. Because each item is made individually by me, if the item you would like is not in stock and I must create it, I will contact you with an estimated delivery date.
Also, Important Notice: I will happily take custom orders! I have hundreds of fabrics and make many different styles of bags. More pictures to come. Please ASK if there is anything you'd like to see.
Also, if the actual shipping costs are less than the stated shipping costs (I include shipping costs and packaging material) I WILL REFUND THE DIFFERENCE.
I infuse each package with Reiki before I ship it. If you'd rather I didn't give your package a boost of Energy, please feel free to decline.
Also, please let me know if you have allergies or breathing issues. I often sprinkle a bit of dried herbs from my garden into the wrapping material. I will skip this step if it will cause you distress. No distress allowed! This is supposed to be a GOOD experience! Boo Hiss for asthma attacks!
Boy, that's a lot of "Also"'s! I must have been bitten by Chatty Cathy sometime in my youth.

NOTICE: New policy: If your shipping refund is less than $!.50, I will offer a credit of $1.50 instead of reimbursement. It really doesn't seem worth either of our time for a Paypal transfer of less than $1.50. You will have a choice.

About

Sewing for Sanity!

I have been sewing all my life. I have always kept my hands busy with crocheting, rug braiding, spinning, knitting, sewing, blending essential oils for my family's health (and the occasional friend) and other crafts. I am also an avid history buff, a voracious reader and for many years was involved in Living History, historic re-enactment. I dragged my children all over the northeast to different Scottish Highland Games, offering them the opportunity to absorb history first-hand. As they got older, I started re-enactment and spent umpty-million hours dressed in Highland garb, wrapped in wool and apparently happy and blissful with temperatures in the 90's and even up to 100+, demonstrating spinning with a drop spindle.
Somewhere along the line I got older and lo and behold.... I retired from my nursing career and I found myself home. All the time. With my husband. And assorted kids coming and going and coming and going....and coming home to save money...you get the picture. Ummmmmm...I love my family. I ADORE my family. I am married to my soulmate and he is the light of my life. And my children are the picture of perfect. They are all beautiful, brilliant, and have good teeth. HOWEVER, home...24-7. With the perfect husband and my brilliant children. I quickly realized what was wrong with this picture. I was going insane! All that perfection was giving me a rash. I was becoming a wee bit psychotic. What to do, What to do. Hmmmm...fixed incomes are horrid and not designed to pay all the bills, let alone allow for anything that resembles pleasure or allows one to eat. Eureka! I had been Grannie MacBee when I went to schools to talk about history, so TaDa! Grannie MacBee went online! Selling thousands and thousands of my wee purses and bags is very exhausting but it beats living in a straight jacket or becoming an axe murderer. Just to be on the safe side, this IS written tongue-in-cheek. I would hate to have anyone take me literally. There isn't a literal bone in my body.
Seriously, if there is such a thing, I love to sew and I love creating fun useful things and I LOVE people. If nothing else, sewing for you makes me happy if it makes you happy. I AM blessed (does anyone with an Etsy shop ever say My Life is Crap? Not that I have seen), yes I certainly am blessed. Nurses thrive on making someone's life a bit nicer, just a bit better, and thus, Grannie MacBee's gives me the venue to continue following my heart even in my retirement. Kisses and Hugs to Everyone,
Betsy/Grannie MacBee
PS: I am also a Reiki Master and infuse all my work with Reiki. If you are unfamiliar with what that is, it is asking the Love of the Universe to enter into whatever or whomever is the recipient. If you would rather I DID NOT do this, for whatever reason, send a note with your order and I will respect your request. If you yourself would like some distance Reiki (sort of like praying for you. Same principle) just ask. I would be honored to send you some.
