I love the color, received on time and not only intact, but very nicely packaged for presentation! I've purchased one for myself and others for Christmas gifts. I NEVER wear anything except my wedding ring and the occasional earrings. I've worn this necklace out to a doctors' appointment and felt so well put together! Love it!

About

Inspired by Nature

Growing up as an Abingdon Virginia native, Jennifer Counts was immersed in the arts and culture of the southern Appalachian region at an early age. She credits her inherent inspiration from nature and her creative ingenuity to her Cherokee roots. Now, using any and all artistic media to express herself, Jennifer is forging her own path as a working artist in the art world.

In 2008 she started her own company branding both her fine art and jewelry designs under the name Grass Roots Studio. Jennifer enjoys painting in oil but has several other bodies of work in which she uses acrylic inks and other various media. In addition to painting, she also designs unique pieces of wearable art by combining her interest in healing crystals and gemstones with her skills in metalsmithing, wood-burning, and the ability to create various components from found objects. She aims to create pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also help people regain their inner balance of mind, body, and spirit. Jennifer and her husband, Kyle Buckland, were studio artists at the William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, Virginia from 2010-2012 and are currently working out of their new home studio. They have both been full time artists since 2008, making a living selling their art through shops, galleries, exhibitions and festivals including their local farmer's market. Jennifer's jewelry is juried into Heartwood, Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway and she is a member of Round the Mountain Artisan Network. Her work can be found in many galleries and shops around the southern appalachian region.

In the last several years, Jennifer has had work published in Ampersand Magazine, an arts periodical published by Emory & Henry College and has been juried into The Virginia Highlands Art Gallery Annual Group Exhibitions numerous times. Her work has also been exhibited in many group exhibits, including but not limited to, a two person show entitled Inhibition Lost at the William King Museum of Art, a group show entitled Twenty Two Women at Blue Windmill Galleries in Abingdon, Virginia, and a collaborative effort for a public art project entitled Who’s Afraid of Virginia’s Wolves, also in Abingdon Virginia. Jennifer had a solo exhibit in 2011 at The Appalachian Spirit Gallery in Marion, Virginia and was juried into a two woman show in the Spotlight Gallery at the Arts Depot in Abingdon, Virginia, in 2013. She continues to be active in pursuing her dreams and is working to grow her business. She is currently focusing on her internet presence and eCommerce and hopes to find her place in the Etsy community!
