4 out of 5 starsThe first diaper I received I had absorbancy issues with leaking around the legs. The owner of this shop was AMAZING with helping me out. She tried to troubleshoot things I could be doing wrong. When this did not work she sent me a new diaper with a different type of soaker. The diaper is very pretty and soft and fits my skinny 1 year old well.

4 out of 5 starsI originally thought this diaper didn’t have rise snap and I looked at it wrong, but the owner was very helpful and explained exactly how to use this diaper. I usually only use pre flats so I’m new to fitteds. The diaper is very soft and looks comfortable. Comes with a well made wipe. I’m not sure how I feel about zorb yet As I was hoping to be able to get some cover free time, but my son immediately peed out of the diaper. I’m told it gets better as you wash so I’m hoping it will get better. Also with a cover on it’s fine for a few hours. The print is also very cute. Well made diaper. I just think it needs a few more wash cycles.

5 out of 5 starsThese diapers are beautiful! The print is super cute and unique. I feel like I always have a hard time finding prints that aren’t too generic or over the top - these are perfect and still they are very well made! We have used cloth for all 4 of our babes and I have seen the best and worst of what’s out there. These are amazing! Not to mention the great customer service, especially during this crazy time with the holidays AND pandemic going on!

All you need to know about Green Genes!
Welcome!
Thank you for stopping by!
All items are made in a home in Sunny, Southern California. I am a work at home mom, with an amazing 4 year old!
We use only high quality fabrics, materials, and most importantly, machines. Our machines include industrial Juki, as well as Pfaff and Brother. We are certified compliant, and all of our diapers are labeled with a tracking number, should a recall ever occur.
Clothing sizes are listed, and have been found to run similar to store bought (retail) items. Please ask for a measurement/sizing guide should you have questions.
Green Genes originated with diapers. Diapers are our jam ;)
We make a few types and styles.
Our Original Gene (OG) is where it all began! This diaper fits best, a child that weighs between 12-45lbs. It has a wider seat, and long tabs. It comes equipped with a fold down rise to adjust for smaller babies. This truly is a one size, wear until potty trained diaper! The OG comes in comfort turned & top stitched and also in serged.
Our Skinny Gene (SG) is OG’s little sister! Families have fallen in over with our SG! Don't let the name fool you! Skinny Gene will fit from approximately 10lbs-40lbs+. The seat is not as wide as the OG, and the wing span isn't as wide. The SG also comes standard with a fold down rise (fdr). The SG comes in comfort turned & topstitched (t&t) and also in serged.
Our newborn diaper (NB) fits babies from approximately 6-12lbs.
The Original, Skinny and Newborn are all Hybrid Fitted. A hybrid diaper has a hidden layer of thick polyester fleece. The fleece acts as a deterrent to liquid, and thus pushes liquids back into the soaker. We've found that you can go coverless in our hybrids, for up to 3-4 hours. They are not considered waterproof, and should require a cover if you're child is traveling.
The soaker system for the hybrid diapers is a long snake style snap I'm system. It consists of 3 layers, that can be double or triple folded. The top has a layer of CV (cotton velour) covering 2 layers of cotton French terry. The bottom layer is Zorb. We love Zorb, and our customers do to. It's very trim, yet packs a punch! There are 2 petals in the soaker, to help speed up drying time. 2 snaps that are not exposed to the skin snap into the outer shell of the diaper, for a snug, secure fit.
We like to keep our prices moderately low for clothing and diapers. We realize that babies don't keep, and spending upwards of $40 for 1 diaper is just not reasonable for all families. That's why we have a set standard when it comes to diapers. GREAT quality, and an amazing price for ALL budgets!
Our main goal is to cut the price, not the quality!

Frequently asked questions
Do Green Genes diapers need a cover?
Our diapers do not contain any plastics or waterproof materials. However, the way that hybrid fitteds are constructed, there is a hidden layer of poly fleece that propels moisture and liquid back in to the diaper soaker. We used our own diapers on our child and would sometimes get 3-4 hours before it felt a little damp. To prevent compression leaks, we suggest a soft fleece diaper cover that has been lanolized.
