About

Catching the ephemeral

I started working with resin because I was fascinated with how it could catch and freeze an object in time. Better yet it even seemed to catch movement. I loved the idea of preserving finite moments. Resin moves like liquid when poured and that inspired me to start with marine creatures. It was like making tiny aquariums.

These frozen tableaus reminded me of natural history exhibits. This became the focus and theme of my work. Not only would I try to capture natural specimens but also anthropological artifacts. I like focusing on things like decorative objects, books and textiles. These are things easily lost to time. My work in some way preserves fragile and ephemeral objects.
