Announcement   Green Waves Glass creates genuine sea glass leather jewelry for men and women.
Outdoor enthusiasts who embrace adventure and a casual lifestyle will find Green Wave a favorite. Wearing nature’s recycles shows a commitment to the environment and a love of the outdoors.

The beach has a pull, like the tide, on many of us. The playfulness of the surf and the sound of the waves caressing the shoreline can sooth our ragged edges. Green Waves Glass celebrates the transformative powers of the beach by making jewelry from broken glass that has been polished by wind, wave, and sand, overtime. The ultimate blend of art and recycling, each one of a kind necklace displays a piece of polished sea glass to accentuate the unique beauty, shape, and color. What ever your reasons for visiting the shore- surfing, kite boarding, or walking in the surf, Green Waves necklaces let you take the essence of the beach, home with you.

Please reduce, reuse and recycle. Thanks to a change in many state laws and education in recycling, sea glass is slowly disappearing from beaches.

About Green Waves Glass

Home to me has always been Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in northern Michigan. Growing up, we moved all the time but spent summers at the dunes. Graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Interpretation, I went on to work as a seasonal Park Ranger for the National Park Service. I met my husband in the N.P.S. and we decided to quit the gypsy life and make our home in Michigan. I spent the next eleven years teaching environmental education at the Ebersole Environmental Center and having four children.

After my special needs daughter was born, I left my job to be home. Camping as a family we collected polished glass on many Great Lake’s beaches. Christmas time was spent visiting my family in Florida and combing Atlantic beaches.

Looking for glass makes you notice other things in nature. We have found three “message in a bottle,” plus saved many sea stars, sea horses and sand dollars stranded by changing tides. Manatees, stingrays and dolphins have swam by while snorkeling and strolling the beach. Watching a Bald Eagle in Michigan or a Pelican in Florida dive for a fish makes the day special, even if you find no glass. Fisherman reeling in a shark, a dead sea turtle, or a sick loon dying on the beach make you realize the importance of keeping our beaches clean.

Two of my sons work summers white water rafting, and at a canoe and kayak livery, working outside. Dan, my oldest, asked me to make a necklace from glass we had found. After his two brothers, and numerous friends put in their requests, Green Waves was born. Our three boys now spend their time on the water, instead of the beaches, but my daughter never tires of finding treasures on the beach. May you enjoy your treasure recycled by nature and time, into one of a kind art.
