About GreenWoodChairs
-
Alison has been designing and making her graceful, freeform chairs using locally coppiced hazel since 1996.
-
All items are made at the Green Wood Chairs studio, near Skibbereen, West Cork, Ireland.
-
Although a variety of broadleaf trees are suitable for coppicing, hazel has become Alison's material of choice.
-
Alison recently began to incorporate textiles into her chair designs, bringing colour and soft textures into her work.
-
Alison uses a range of traditional hand tools, as well as some modern power tools, to create her unique furniture.
Working with the natural shapes and curves of the hazel is a dynamic process, a collaboration between the tree and the chair maker.
