Announcement   Some of my pens are perfect. Some are not. That is the beauty of handmade items. The proximity to perfection is clearly illustrated by the price of the pen! The pen you will receive is the actual pen in the picture. Thank you for looking.

I have recently started to ship internationally. If you are in a country other than the United States and wish to purchase one of my pens please ask, I will do my utmost to accomodate you. Pay Pal is preferred so I can ship immediately. Also by purchasing via PayPal I can save you money on shipping costs as I can ship USPS First Class where when using a credit card I must ship via USPS Priority Mail which is more expensive.

A great looking pen and large if you like larger pens. This one cracked a little the first week but we had some large temperature swings.

About

I learned to make pens in 2010 and am constantly evolving and refining my technique.

My wife and I went on a romantic get away to Wilmington, NC in the late fall of 2009. We entered a craft store where I saw my first handmade wooden pen. I couldn't believe the shop owner wanted from $40.00 to well over $100.00 for the pens. I told my wife, Susie, I knew I could do the same for much less. I then proceeded to learn how to do it. My style, technique and the quality of my pens has evolved since then. I believe you will find the quality of my pens to be superior. I make little to no profit from these functional works of art. Every penny is reinvested into supplies for the shop. There is a price range in the pens though. The less expensive pens are not quite to my satisfaction. The price increases the more the pen approaches perfection. This may contradict what I just said about profit, but it takes a lot more materials, as I've learned, to produce a finer quality pen. That being said my most expensive pen ever made was priced at $28.00.
We now live in Hawaii where I've found even more exotic woods. Many right on my own one acre of paradise. I've also discovered many exotic fruit tree woods here, such as Durian, Rambutan, lychee ect...
I hope you see the beauty in the woods I use as I do. These pens will be much appreciated by the recipient.

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

My pens use two types of refills. They are "Cross & Parker" style refills. cross refills can be identified by the refill body being long and the same diameter from just above the nib to the plastic screw on cap. Parker refills are roughly from nib end of the body narrow then about 1/3 of the way up the refill it flares out to about twice the diameter.

Shipping costs

I make every effort to save you money on shipping. If you purchase via PayPal the funds are accessible immediately through Etsy and I can print out a shipping label using USPS First Class Mail. If you do not use PayPal and use a credit card I can not immediately print a shipping label and must go to the USPS site where I can only print out a USPS Priority Mail label which is much more expensive.
