Quilled Paper Landscape Tapestries now in the shop! This landscape collection explores the patterns and textures created by the land, sea and sky and their relationship to each other using paper quilling. Unlike traditional quilling, where folded and rolled coils of paper are glued to a substrate, in my tapestries, I remove this substrate, and glue the paper coils to each other. In turn the landscape imagery is both the subject and the structure of the piece.
***Custom Landscape Tapestries are also available

5 out of 5 starsA beautiful piece of custom art work and a very pleasant experience.
Griffin is a pleasure to work with. She provided mock-up drawings, waited for and listened to feedback resulting in a final work that was better and more than I ever imagined. And throughout the process, she kept me informed of her progress and status.
The paper quilt Griffin created is fabulous. The rich colors are gorgeous. You have to see it first hand to really appreciate its eye catching textures which draws the attention and admiration of everyone who sees it.
Real pretty. Real fine. And really unique! -

MEET THE MAKER
ARTIST STATEMENT
My love of quilling comes from the process of hand cutting, rolling, folding and configuring paper, transforming this two dimensional material into a three dimensional object. The textures , patterns and forms found in the built and natural environments as well as the traditional decorative arts of ceramics, macrame, weaving and lace inspire my work. Ultimately, my practice is a constant experiment in exploring the three dimensional potential of paper, a simple and familiar material.
ABOUT GRIFFIN
A maker at an early age, I crafted my way through my early childhood and quilled for the first time back in the third grade, a vase of flowers!
It would be another 20 years before I tried my hand at quilling again. During my quilling "hiatus" I pursued other creative avenues. I got a bug for interior design in elementary school and spent hours transforming an entire room of my parent's home into Barbie’s dream house. By my teens architecture was on my radar, as I reimagined the homes of friends and family drawing up elaborate floor plans. This passion lead me to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and minor in Art History from UW-Milwaukee and then a Master of Arts in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I followed that up with a career in commercial interior design before my husband’s military career took us from our home base in Chicago(land) to Fayetteville, North Carolina where we currently reside. I have spent the the past few years home with three young children and working online both teaching interior design and working on small residential projects. Both gigs where creative and enjoyable but left my hands with a creative itch that hours spent at a keyboard and mouse just can't scratch. So in July of 2016, with a desire to put my hands to work and unable to sew, knit, embroider, weave, crochet, knot, throw a pot or paint, I rediscovered quilling and I haven't looked back since!
