Just what I was looking for, being a 70's teenager; and love the cowhide. Wonderful leather work; an art that we need to keep alive!

About

I'm just an old duffer who enjoys creating, collecting vintage stuff and making folks smile.

In order to understand how my shop started and works I will have to tell you a little bit about myself. Let's all get on my time machine and travel back. My promise to any brave sole who joins me on this trip... I won't leave you there.

It's 1969 and I have just returned to the states after 3 tours of service in SE Asia and decide to settle down in the woods of Maine. I've always had an inquisitive side and combine that with a creative urge... you end up with an artisan or crafts-person. Let me give you an example of what I mean. I liked to go into the woods and find a pretty stone. I did a lot of that back then. I would find a jasper or a tourmaline and then embark on the challenge to make it better. Cut and polish and now what to do with it? Next comes some silver metal, work it a bit and mix in the stone you just worked and like magic, there is a finished piece of jewelry. A one of a kind that no one has ever laid eyes on before. It is fun to take raw materials and turn them into a usable object or work of art.

If you are still here reading this tome I must mention my love of old things, toys, stamps, coins, books or what have you. It was only natural to pursue collecting stuff that I like. The thrill of the pursuit of a special rock or a rare artifact is much the same.

Back in the present, I don't have the eyes for the fine detail work of a lapidary or silversmith anymore. I still love to create but time and age have found ways to control how much I can do. And since I also enjoy other pursuits, mentioned above, I like to offer a treasure from time to time to other folk. Bottom line is that my store could have just about anything show up.

I hope you will visit my shop when you are in the neighborhood. Take time to enjoy the simple things in life. Relax, give someone a hug... and smile.

God Bless!
