About

Creating Nature-Inspired Fine Art and Implementing Eco-Friendly Studio Practices

I paint Nature - all of it. It inspires me and sustains me in the big city. My mind wraps itself around and merges with - the natural world and that which drives it's heart beat. My paintings are odes to it and in a way, healing forces for my own regeneration.

Having established a firm foundation in realism I have grown into abstract expressionism to capture the evocation of what I see and feel. I find acrylics to be a great medium to convey the texture, energy, immediacy and spontaneity of the moods that are invoked by nature; be it a gloomy eve or a radiant summer day, quiet in the air or the rushing of waves. Watercolours are supple, gentle, supple. Oils also have their place in capturing evocative and luminescent scenes and subjects. These mediums and more help me to describe the moment that I am capturing or trying to express in a tangible, physical, haunting form.

Some paintings are lonely and melancholy, like a loon call in the fading light of a late summer's evening, or as pristine, beautiful and refreshing as a beach wave breaking over your overheated body. I want to capture that moment, that truth, and experience it while I am executing the painting, or rather, while it is using me to create itself. This merging with that which is, that which is the underlying life force of nature and myself to create, that is the driving impetus of my work.

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

Q: How do you package and ship the artwork?
A: I wrap the painting in brown paper, bubble wrap the piece for protection, then put in either wrap-around cardboard or place it in a cardboard box (for smaller pieces) or a sturdy shipping cardboard box (for medium to large paintings). It's then wrapped in packing tape for added strength and to water-proof it. If it's a print or painting on paper it is placed in an clear acetate envelope then slipped into a rigid cardboard mailer for protection.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Q: I am buying the painting as a gift for someone. Can you include a card?
A: Yes, I wrap the paintings as described earlier and then include a "Gift For You" card and write what you'd like in the inside to that special person.

Custom and personalised orders

Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: Yes! Become a collector and get a collector's discount of 10% or more! Just contact me for more details.

Care instructions

Q: How can I best protect any painting or print?
A: Keep it out of direct sunlight and protect it from humidity and large temperature changes. Any painting or artwork done on paper, canvas or wood will expand and contract according to humidity and temperature that is why it is recommended that you do not hang such items in areas with high humidity such as bathrooms where it would be subjected to steamy conditions.

Do you accept commissions?

Yes, I do however it depends on how busy I am with other commissions (there could be a waiting time) and if I am available at that time. Just contact me to discuss what you'd like.

Wholesale availability

It all depends on what you are looking for and if I can provide it. Just contact me to discuss details.
